You will work closely with application teams to maintain database stability and availability while contributing to continual service improvement.\nThe role also provides exposure to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, AI-driven optimisation initiatives, CRM and end-to-end operations, service governance, and operational efficiency.\nWhat you will do\nAdminister and support production Oracle databases and associated operational activities.\nAnalyse database and application performance bottlenecks, including scripts, code and user-generated queries that affect application performance\nPerform SQL and database performance tuning and support DML operations.\nMonitor databases using tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager and Grafana.\nContribute to proactive monitoring, alert tuning, dashboarding and log analysis using observability technologies such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk or Zabbix.\nManage database user access and support security audits.Participate in auditing and SOX compliance activities.\nSupport database upgrades and migrations, including integration with other relational database management systems.\nSupport production databases and high-availability environments.Perform backup and recovery activities.\nWork closely with application teams to support database operations and resolve incidents.\nUse ticketing tools to manage operational requests and issues.\nProvide on-call support for high-priority database incidents.\nDevelop and maintain UNIX and shell scripts to automate BAU operational and maintenance activities.\nSupport jobs and batch processes at UNIX level, including tuning existing processes and creating new processes where required.\nContribute to SRE practices, automation, reconciliation and continual service improvement.\nSupport service stability, availability and operational optimisation.\nWho you are\nYou have 4-7 years of relevant experience, including at least four years in application database support operations.\nYou have hands-on experience administering Oracle databases across multiple versions.\nYou have practical knowledge of database administration and database architecture.\nYou understand Oracle and non-Oracle database architectures.\nYou have experience in database and SQL performance tuning.\nYou understand database configuration and operational support.\nYou are familiar with memory architecture, storage architecture and cluster architecture.\nYou have experience administering production databases and understand high-availability approaches.\nYou have experience with database upgrades and migrations.\nYou understand backup and recovery processes.\nYou have advanced UNIX knowledge and experience with shell scripting and at least one additional scripting language, such as Perl.\nYou understand proactive monitoring, automation, reconciliation and continual service improvement.\nYou have experience with, or an understanding of, observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk or Zabbix.\nYou understand log analysis, alert tuning, dashboards and proactive monitoring.\nYou have analytical, communication, stakeholder-management and technical-leadership skills.\nYou hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.\nITIL certification is desirable.\nKnowledge of the telecommunications industry would be beneficial.\nNot a Perfect Fit?\nConcerned you may not meet every requirement?
