What you’ll do

Role purpose

The FTTX Insight & Reporting Engineer delivers end-to-end service assurance analytics, performance monitoring, customer experience reporting, and operational insights across Vodacom Tanzania’s FTTX ecosystem, covering ONT, OLT, GPON, CPE, BNG, and customer experience systems.

• Lead FTTX performance assurance and reporting through continuous monitoring of network, service, and customer experience performance.
• Generate actionable insights using analytics, trends, and KPIs to detect degradation, recurring faults, and customer-impacting issues.
• Provide proactive service visibility through dashboards, automated reports, and end-to-end assurance monitoring.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership

1. FTTX Service Performance Monitoring & Assurance: Monitor ONTs, OLTs, BNGs, GPON networks, and customer service platforms using OSS, NMS, and analytics tools; track service and customer experience KPIs; and identify, correlate, and escalate service-impacting events and performance degradation.

2. Reporting & Insight Generation: Produce daily, weekly, monthly, and executive FTTX performance reports, develop dashboards and scorecards for operational and management visibility, and conduct trend analysis with recommendations to improve service and operational efficiency.

3. Root Cause Analysis & Service Investigations: Investigate recurring customer issues, service degradation, congestion, and major incidents by correlating information across OLT, ONT, CPE, BNG, AAA, CRM, OSS, and NMS platforms, and provide root-cause findings with corrective-action recommendations.

4. Capacity Planning & Optimization Support: Analyze capacity utilization across FTTX network domains, identify service bottlenecks and performance constraints affecting customer experience, and support engineering teams with performance analytics and optimization recommendations.

5. Data Management & Reporting Automation: Develop automated reports and dashboards using business intelligence and analytics platforms while ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of operational performance data.

6. Cross-Team Collaboration & Governance: Collaborate with CSOC, Access Network, IP Core, Customer Care, IT, and Engineering teams; support governance forums with service performance insights, risks, actions, and recommendations; and participate in RCA and performance reviews, service improvement initiatives, and management reporting.

Who you are

Technical Competencies, Skills & Knowledge

• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of FTTX and GPON architectures, including ONTs, OLTs, optical distribution networks, customer premises equipment, BNG, AAA, subscriber management systems, OSS/NMS platforms, service assurance systems, and performance management tools.
• Technical & Analytical Skills: Proven capability in KPI management, performance reporting, service assurance analytics, trend analysis, customer experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and converting large datasets into actionable insights.
• Tools & Reporting: Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Excel, or equivalent analytics tools, with knowledge of Python considered an added advantage.
• Behavioural Skills: Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, presentation, stakeholder engagement, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration skills at operational and management levels.

Must have technical/professional qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field.
• Professional certifications in Data Analytics, Power BI, SQL, Telecommunications, Networking, Service Assurance, or Business Intelligence are advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in telecommunications service assurance, network performance management, broadband operations, customer experience analytics, or reporting functions.
• Experience supporting FTTX, GPON, broadband, or IP service environments is highly desirable.
