Vodafone is a British telecommunications group whose mobile business was launched in 1985 and demerged as an independent company in 1991, growing through the 1990s into one of the largest mobile operators in the world. After years of retrenchment it now concentrates on Germany, the United Kingdom following its merger with Three, and a set of other European markets, alongside a substantial African business built around M-Pesa mobile money and a business division selling connectivity and internet of things services to corporate customers. Headquartered in Newbury and listed in London, it operates the world's largest managed internet of things connectivity platform.

Location: London OR Newbury + Hybrid

Salary: Excellent basic salary plus bonus and Vodafone benefits

Working hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday

Hybrid

We believe that through collaboration and connection with our colleagues we can achieve great things. Our hybrid working approach allows our people to work both in the office and at home, providing the flexibility and resources you need to succeed in your role. We don't require you to be in on specific days; instead, we ask people to come into the office 2-3 days each week, for at least 8 days per month. You should work with your line manager to understand what their expectations are for you, your specific role and your team.

Who We Are

We’re here to build a network the UK can count on - one that connects people, places and potential. Because no matter where you live, what your background is, or how you get online - we think everyone deserves the same chance to stay connected, and with VodafoneThree, that future’s being built - today.

We’re creating more than the UK’s best network. We’re helping close the digital divide, empower communities and drive meaningful progress.

We believe that everyone should feel they belong. Whoever you are and whatever your story, there’s space for you here. We’re building a workplace where different perspectives are welcomed, voices are heard, and everyone feels safe to show up as themselves.

You’ll join a team that genuinely cares - about each other, about our customers, and about the future we’re building. From day one, you’ll be welcomed, valued and encouraged to bring your whole self to work.

Why VodafoneThree

Join us and you’ll be at the heart of change. That means building responsibly, investing sustainably and creating opportunities that last.

We’re not just expanding connectivity; we’re reimagining what a connected nation looks like. With £11bn invested in 5G and digital infrastructure, your work will directly power businesses, services, and communities across the country.

You’ll work on real challenges, with real impact, across every corner of the country. Wherever you join us, whatever your role, you’ll be helping to build a future that works better for everyone.

We move at pace, because what we’re building matters - and we’re learning as we go. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, but we’re just getting started.

Join us at the heart of our business in Corporate, one of the central support functions that underpin our business and keep us moving forward. We provide centralised support, expertise and guidance across our UK and Group operations, continuing to build on our success and trailblazing the way to our next stage of digital growth.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Legal Counsel within the Competition & Regulatory Legal team, you will provide clear, practical, and commercially focused advice that supports VodafoneThree's strategic objectives while helping to manage competition law and regulatory risk. You will work on complex and high-profile initiatives, influence important business decisions, and contribute to building a strong culture of integrity, collaboration, and legal excellence.

You will:

  • Partner with colleagues across VodafoneThree to provide expert competition law advice, including support for senior leaders and Board-level stakeholders.
  • Advise on a wide range of strategic projects, commercial initiatives, and transactions, including mergers, joint ventures, network sharing arrangements, commercial collaborations, and wholesale agreements.
  • Deliver balanced, risk-based guidance on product development, pricing, customer propositions, commercial strategy, and market opportunities.
  • Support the development and implementation of VodafoneThree's competition law compliance programme.
  • Provide advice on regulatory frameworks, policy developments, disputes, investigations, and litigation where competition law considerations arise.
  • Work closely with regulatory and competition authorities, including Ofcom, the CMA, and other relevant bodies.
  • Support regulatory enquiries, information requests, investigations, and other contentious matters when required.
  • Create and deliver engaging training and awareness programmes that help colleagues understand competition law responsibilities.
  • Build trusted and supportive relationships with stakeholders across VodafoneThree and its shareholder organisations.
  • Monitor legal, regulatory, and industry developments, identifying emerging risks and opportunities and providing proactive guidance to the business.
  • Contribute to an inclusive, curious, and forward-thinking culture where diverse perspectives are valued and encouraged.

Who you are

  • You will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, Chartered Legal Executive, or equivalent legal professional with significant post-qualification experience gained in private practice, in-house, or a combination of both.
  • You will have strong technical expertise in relevant areas of law, with experience advising on competition and regulatory matters.
  • You will bring a proven track record of supporting complex transactions, strategic projects, or business-critical initiatives.
  • You will be confident analysing legal and commercial risks and communicating them clearly to a broad range of stakeholders, including senior leaders.
  • You will combine sound judgement with a thoughtful, practical, and solutions-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • You will be comfortable working collaboratively across functions, building partnerships, and finding effective solutions that support business outcomes.
  • You will have strong drafting skills and be able to produce clear, accurate, and commercially relevant legal documentation with limited supervision.
  • You will demonstrate effective negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • You will be motivated to learn, adapt, and broaden your expertise across different areas within the team's remit.
  • You will have excellent communication skills and be able to tailor complex legal advice to different audiences in a concise, clear, and accessible way.
  • You will bring strong commercial awareness and an interest in understanding wider business goals and customer priorities.
  • You will be someone who values teamwork, curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement while encouraging diverse viewpoints and inclusive thinking.
  • You will hold a university honours degree (second class or above), or an equivalent higher education qualification.
