In this role, you will take technical ownership of motor system definition, development, integration, and validation across the full lifecycle. You will serve as the technical interface between internal engineering domains and external suppliers, ensuring our motor systems meet the highest levels of safety, reliability, and performance required for certified aircraft.This is a key technical role with substantial influence over system architecture, certification strategy, and supplier technical maturity.\nOwn the end-to-end system engineering process for aircraft motor systems, from concept through certification and entry into service.\nDefine, decompose, and validate system requirements aligned with aerospace standards (e.g., ARP4754A) and certification needs.\nLead system-level architecture definition, including interfaces to power electronics, mechanical components, and embedded control software.\nPlan and execute Verification & Validation activities: define verification strategies, lead test campaigns, analyze results, and ensure compliance to safety and performance requirements.\nDrive technical supplier management, including requirement flow-down, design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR), audits, and alignment with program milestones.\nPerform rigorous technical assessments of supplier designs, analyses, safety documentation, and qualification evidence.\nResolve complex cross-functional issues, guiding internal teams (electronics, software, mechanical, safety, testing) toward integrated solutions.\nContribute to certification strategy, collaborating closely with airworthiness, systems safety, and compliance teams.\nContinuously improve Volocopter’s system engineering methodology, processes, and toolchain \nStay current with aerospace regulations, standards, and emerging technologies relevant to motor systems.\nRequisitos\nCheck in your professional skills:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.\n7+ years of system engineering experience in aerospace or other safety-critical industries.\nProven track record working with electric motor and inverter systems, preferably for aviation or similarly demanding applications.\nDeep understanding of ARP4754A, SAE, and other relevant aerospace development & certification standards.\nExtensive experience in verification, validation, and test planning for safety-critical systems.\nDemonstrated success in supplier technical management and evaluation of complex system designs.\nStrong cross-domain understanding of electronics, embedded software, controls, and mechanical design for motor systems.\nStrong analytical mindset with the ability to break down complex technical challenges.\nExcellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics to diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nFluent in English.\n Preferred skills:Experience in motor design and performance analysis (electromagnetic, thermal, mechanical).\nExperience in computer aided design (CAD) tools (e.g. CATIA, Simcenter NX, or similar).\nFamiliarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools and methodologies (e.g., SysML).\nKnowledge of DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160, and aerospace hardware development/qualification processes.\nExperience with safety analyses such as FMEA, FTA, and FHA.\nProficiency with requirements management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS), configuration management, and version control systems.\nHands-on experience with system integration and aircraft-level test campaigns.\nBeneficios\nOur Volocopter flight includes:\nFast-growing high-tech company with a superb network of investors and partners \nChance to shape the future of aviation \nHelp us to create groundbreaking new projects - from scratch! \nPersonal accountability, as well as growth and learning opportunities, based on your personal strengths \nAn inspiring workplace with modern workspaces, flexible hours, quick decision-making, a flat hierarchy, positive leadership, great team spirit \nAttractive compensation package\nDiversity at Volocopter:\nOur differences are what make us great.
