The Buyer coordinates his or her efforts with warehouse and internal parts making in order to maintain the appropriate level of inventory. This individual utilizes product knowledge to purchase goods and services at the most favorable combination of price, delivery and quality, while simultaneously building and maintaining relationships with key suppliers. Other tasks include resolving issues pertaining to material defects, invoice discrepancies and delivery timelines.\nRoles & Responsibilities\nMeet the demand for procurement by issuing POs for goods, materials, and services for inventory, production, and part sales in a timely and cost-effective manner.\nPrepare and administer requests for quotes, requests for proposal, requests for information, travelers, and work closely with suppliers both internal & external.\nIdentify and approve new suppliers and maintain the approved supplier database.\nManage inbound freight of purchases.\nNegotiate terms and conditions with suppliers.\nContact suppliers regarding errors in partial or duplicate shipments, prices, and substitutions.\nCommunicate with the warehouse to ensure rapid delivery and reception of goods and/or services.\nReceive and handle confirmations from vendors; verify that the information on the confirmation is for agreed-upon prices, products, shipment date, and shipping method.\nNegotiate return of items to vendors and coordinate subsequent credits or replacements.\nIdentify discrepancies between shipments and orders and take action. Communicate all delays or variances of inbound freight to the appropriate parties.\nInvestigate and resolve invoice discrepancies using diplomacy and tact with vendors and service providers.
