What's more, there are significant community benefits that accompany working with Voltus - a cleaner, more reliable energy future and dollars invested back into your business.\nLocation\nVoltus is a fully-remote company, however, the candidate must reside in the United States and be authorized to work in the United States.\nKey Responsibilities\nReview, draft, negotiate, and interpret a wide range of energy and commercial contracts, including battery energy storage system (BESS) agreements, tolling agreements, power purchase agreements (PPAs), interconnection agreements, BESS equipment supply agreements, battery-specific safety, decommissioning, and end-of-life obligations, and other distributed energy resource contracts\nServe as senior legal advisor on structuring, negotiating, and closing battery storage and other energy storage transactions, working closely with commercial, engineering, and finance teams\n\nAdvise the sales and partnership teams on legal implications, risks, and opportunities associated with various commercial structures under consideration, and support those teams in achieving commercial objectives consistent with legal risk tolerance\n\nProvide substantive guidance on regulatory and market-specific issues affecting energy storage and demand response transactions across ISO/RTO markets (e.g., PJM, ERCOT, MISO, NYISO), including storage participation models under FERC Order Nos. 841 and 2222\n\nUtilize and build upon deep knowledge of legal issues relating to energy regulatory matters, IP, data use, privacy, and labor and employment law\n\nPrepare, maintain, and improve template agreements, playbooks, training, and operational guidance for storage and commercial contracting\n\nMentor and provide guidance to junior members of the legal team on contract negotiation and energy industry matters\n\nWork closely with teams across sales operations, product, finance, marketing, field operations, regulatory, and engineering to ensure terms align with company objectives and priorities\n\nHelp develop processes to ensure ongoing compliance with contractual commitments and provide practical, solutions-oriented advice to help client teams navigate issues that may arise\n\nDefine and implement best practices around workflow and process to further scale the legal department\n\nAssist with ad-hoc legal matters as needed\n\nDesired Qualifications\nJuris Doctor degree from an accredited law school;
