The Interns participate in professional activities for Volvo New River Valley Plant by working on practical, innovative, and important projects. This Internship provides structured learning experiences where Interns and our Business Managers work together on projects within their selected organization. The Internship allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and the Volvo New River Valley Plant.\nWe’re looking for a motivated Business Administration Intern to support the day-to-day administrative and coordination needs of a manufacturing environment. You’ll work with colleagues across functions such as production, supply chain, finance, HR, and quality, gaining practical experience in how business operations support manufacturing.\nWho are you?\nLearning opportunities: The position will work with body and white and paint operations management team. The position will help develop data collection processes and help optimize manufacturing practices. The position will give the student opportunities to learn and apply lean business management principles within the body and white and paint departments. The student needs to have strong MS Excel skills for data analysis and creating graphs. The student may need to create MS PowerPoint presentations, for communication of new project ideas and reports.\nKey responsibilities\nSupport routine administrative tasks, including document preparation, data entry, filing, and record maintenance.\nUpdate spreadsheets, trackers, and reports, checking information for accuracy and completeness.\nHelp coordinate meetings, maintain calendars, prepare agendas, and record action items.\nSupport purchasing, invoice, expense, or travel administration as assigned.\nAssist with organizing training records, onboarding materials, and other department documentation.\nHelp collect and summarize operational information, such as production, inventory, quality, or safety data.\nCommunicate with internal teams and, where appropriate, suppliers or service providers.\nFollow site procedures for safety, confidentiality, document control, and information handling.\nWhat’s in it for you?\nCurrently studying business administration, management, supply chain, finance, or a related field.\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail.\nComfortable using Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.\nClear written and verbal communication skills.\nWillingness to learn, take initiative, and work collaboratively.\nInterest in manufacturing or industrial operations is an advantage.\nWork environment\nThis role is primarily office-based and may involve occasional visits to production or warehouse areas. The intern must follow all site safety requirements and wear designated personal protective equipment where required.\nMinimum Requirements\nApplicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 \nSpring interns may work up to 30 hours per week\nApplicants must be pursuing a Business Management degree or an undergraduate degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.\nPowerBI experience / knowledge is a plus. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
