This position oversees all pre-payroll, payroll, post-payroll, timekeeping, payroll tax, unemployment claims administration, compliance, reporting, and payroll-related system activities. The role ensures employees are paid accurately and timely, payroll regulatory requirements are met, and payroll operations are delivered efficiently and consistently. The Manager, Payroll & Time drives continuous improvement, standardization, automation, and compliance initiatives while providing leadership to a team responsible for end-to-end payroll and time administration. This position serves as the organization's subject matter expert for payroll, timekeeping, payroll taxation, wage and hour compliance, and unemployment administration, partnering closely with Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Internal Audit, and external vendors.\nPayroll Operations Leadership\nLead and oversee the successful execution of all payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely payment of employees.\nManage end-to-end payroll processes across multiple payroll groups, locations, and employee populations.\nEstablish operational controls to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and service excellence.\nMonitor payroll metrics, service levels, and operational performance.\nEnsure payroll activities are completed in accordance with established schedules and internal controls.\nLead resolution of complex payroll issues, escalations, and exception management activities.\nServe as the organization's primary payroll tax subject matter expert.\nManage payroll tax audits, notices, and agency inquiries.\nEnsure compliance with applicable labor laws, tax regulations, payroll regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.\nLead administration of unemployment claims and related compliance activities.\nTime Administration\nOversee administration of timekeeping processes.\nEnsure accurate calculation and payment of regular wages, overtime, shift premiums, incentives, differentials, and other earnings.\nPartner with business leaders to ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and company policies.\nMonitor timekeeping practices and identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.\nPre-Payroll Administration\nOversee payroll inputs and validation activities, including:\no New hires\no Employee transfers\no Compensation changes\no Leave of absence transactions\no Terminations\no Retroactive adjustments\no Time corrections\no Garnishments and deductions\nEnsure data integrity between P&C, payroll, benefits, and timekeeping systems.\nPost-Payroll Administration\nOversee payroll reconciliation and balancing activities.\nEnsure accurate funding, accounting, and general ledger integration.\nReview and approve payroll reports and audit findings.\nEnsure appropriate payroll record retention and documentation practices.\nSupport internal and external audits.\nTeam Leadership\nLead, coach, and develop Payroll and Time team members.\nEstablish performance objectives and development plans.\nPromote a culture of accountability, customer service, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.\nBuild team capabilities and ensure appropriate cross-training and succession planning.\nAllocate resources and workload to support service delivery commitments.\nWho are you?\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or related field.\nMinimum 7 years of progressive payroll experience.\nMinimum 3 years of leadership experience managing payroll and/or time administration teams.\nDeep knowledge of:\nPayroll administration\nPayroll taxes\nWage and hour regulations\nTimekeeping systems\nGarnishments\nUnemployment administration\nPayroll compliance requirements\nExperience managing payroll operations within a multi-state environment.\nExperience leading payroll audits, tax reporting, and compliance activities.\nExperience working with HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping systems.\nPreferred Qualifications\nCertified Payroll Professional (CPP).\nExperience supporting unionized workforces.\nExperience with SAP SuccessFactors, SAP HR, ADP, UKG, Kronos, or similar platforms.\nExperience within a Shared Services or HR Operations environment.\nExperience leading payroll transformation, automation, or continuous improvement initiatives.\nLean, Six Sigma, or process improvement experience.\nWhat’s in it for you?\nWe offer a comprehensive total rewards package, including but not limited to:\nCompetitive base salary \nAnnual company bonus \nMedical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and others \n401(k) with employer match, plus additional company contribution \nGenerous Employee Time Off, additional company holiday days, community volunteering hours \nOnsite facilities and activities that make everyday living easier, including a cafeteria, fitness center, health services, and more \nOnsite facilities and activities that make everyday living easier, including a cafeteria, fitness center, medical facility, pharmacy, and more \nReady for the next move?\nAre you excited to bring your skills and disruptive ideas to the table? For this position, the base pay is set at $111,000 - $137,000 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience.
