In consultation with the immediate manager, VPS team, HSE coordinator, and quality technicians from quality department, ensure product compliance and drive continuous improvement activities within specified departments.\nCore Responsibilities:\nAuditing, monitoring, and determining the quality of manufacturing processes and/or outputs against defined internal and regulatory standards\nReporting manufacturing process deviations and defects in finished goods and liaising between Quality Control and Production to troubleshoot and resolve problems\nSupporting Production Leaders to coordinate and carry out quality tools for identified problem areas.\nEnsure quality and environmental work instructions are updated and being followed.\nCoordinate and lead new improvement proposals (kaizens) within specified departments, responsible for documentation of improvements\nWork closely with VPS Coordinator on VPS implementation and act as VPS/Change Ambassador for specified departments.\nActive participation in cross functional meetings with production, quality and engineering.\nMonitor department quality reports (First Time Through) for findings and lead improvement team meetings for corrective actions.\nPunctuality and daily attendance.\nModerate to heavy lifting of parts from and to baskets.\nWork closely with Training School Trainer with any departmental updates.\nPerform additional duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management to support Volvo Penta's business objectives and operational goals.\nWithin the framework of VPS/Quality/Environment/Safety are the following roles:\nDo your job, improve your job, develop yourself and develop your team.\nFollow all quality work instructions to ensure compliance with customer specifications and product requirements.\nFollow all environmental/safety work instructions to maintain compliance with Volvo standards and applicable legal requirements.\nComplete and sustain daily 5S activities to support a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.\nSubmit safety observations as required to promote continuous improvement and workplace safety.\nInitiate Kaizen improvements/PSM and actively participate in cross-functional Kaizen/PMS events as needed to drive operational excellence.\nActively work with waste identification and analysis to support productivity, quality, and cost improvement goals\nSkills and Knowledge Required:\nCommunication and presentation skills\nBasic computer skills for Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and JDE\nAttention to detail, organization, and time management skills\nAccountability: Take the lead in getting the job done and accept responsibility for actions, performance, and personal improvements\nMust have one-year experience as a Quality Technician Entry to advance as a Quality Technician Professional\nMust have advanced knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to implement and document continuous improvements to advance as a Quality Technician Professional\nRequires on-the-job training.\nMust be able to lift heavy parts.\nEquipment Used and Working Environment:\nComputer\nHand tools - measuring type (calipers, dial calipers, micrometer, height gage, etc.)\nSafety shoes\nGloves\nHearing protection\nEducation and Experience:\nHigh school graduate or equivalent required\nAt the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $19.75 - $24.40/ hour, and where applicable, bonus eligible.
