This program offers university students hands-on experience through project-based work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Throughout the program, Interns will have exposure to mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities.\nThe Systems Engineer intern will support Voyager Technologies at one of the following locations:\nSan Diego, CA\nLong Beach, CA\nPittsburgh, PA\nThe Systems Engineering Intern will support the Systems Engineering team with a variety of activities related to requirements, system architecture, integration, testing, analysis, and technical documentation. This internship provides an opportunity to apply engineering principles to real-world projects while gaining exposure to how complex systems are defined, developed, integrated, and verified.\nThe intern may contribute to projects across different engineering disciplines and product areas based on current business and engineering priorities. The specific project assignment will provide opportunities to work collaboratively with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams.\nResponsibilities\nAssist with defining, reviewing, decomposing, and tracking system-level requirements.\nSupport the development and documentation of system architectures, interfaces, and technical specifications.\nAssist with identifying and evaluating technical risks, dependencies, and potential system-level issues.\nCollaborate with engineering teams and cross-functional partners to support system development and integration activities.\nSupport the definition of verification and validation methods for system requirements.\nAssist with developing, reviewing, and executing test plans, procedures, and other verification activities.\nParticipate in system integration, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving activities.\nSupport the collection, analysis, and documentation of engineering data and test results.\nAssist with maintaining technical documentation and engineering artifacts throughout the development process.\nParticipate in engineering reviews, team meetings, technical discussions, training sessions, and other learning opportunities.\nCollaborate with other internal teams, such as project management, operations, and business development, as needed.\nContribute ideas for process improvement, engineering efficiency, and operational effectiveness.\nComplete assigned projects and deliverables accurately and within established timelines.\nRequirements\nCurrently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university, preferably pursuing a degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.\nBroad understanding of fundamental engineering principles and systems engineering concepts.\nStrong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nStrong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.\nAbility to learn and apply new engineering tools, processes, and methodologies.\nFamiliarity with engineering software, modeling tools, requirements management systems, programming languages, or other technical tools is preferred.\nAbility to travel for in-person orientation and program kickoff, as well as for the final presentation at program completion.\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrevious internship, coursework, academic project, laboratory experience, or other relevant engineering experience.\nExperience with requirements development, systems engineering, system integration, testing, or technical documentation.\nFamiliarity with engineering design or analysis software, such as CAD, electrical design, modeling/simulation, or requirements management tools.\nExperience with programming or data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar languages.\nHands-on experience with laboratory equipment, engineering test equipment, prototyping, or experimental testing.\nExposure to multidisciplinary engineering projects or cross-functional development environments.\nHourly Pay Range: $23.50-$30.00 per hour\n*Hourly rate determined by academic year, college major, line of business, geography\nPlease click “Apply” to submit your application.\nTo conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.\nVoyager is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
