We’re a company of doers, thinkers and builders, united by purpose and grounded in reality. \nIf you want to put your skills to work where the stakes are real and the mission is bigger than any one person,forge the future with Voyager. \nThe Role\nThe Chemical Engineering Technician is responsible for assisting with the stand-up and operation of pilot facilities supporting chemical and black powder research, collaborating with cross-functional teams - including operations, quality control, and research & development - to bring these systems and facilities online.\nThe position reports to the Lead Chemical Technician and is part of the Engineering Chemicals Team based in Penrose, CO. This is a full-time, onsite role in Penrose, CO, working a 9/80 schedule.\nIn this role, the essential functions are:\nInstall, repair, and maintain piping systems, including threading and assembling NPT fittings, plastic piping (PEX, PVC, CPVC), sanitary pipe fittings, and other plumbing methods.\nSupport day-to-day pilot plant operations by assisting the engineering team with running equipment and helping resolve issues as they arise.\nMaintain and repair mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, and general hardware components.\nAssemble and install structural systems using materials such as Unistrut, t-slot framing, concrete mounting, and basic carpentry/fabrication techniques.\nTroubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues to ensure smooth, efficient operations and minimize equipment downtime.\nMaintain and organize the pilot plant, including spare parts inventory, to ensure critical components are available for operations and repairs.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams - including operations, quality control, and research & development - to stand up new pilot systems and facilities.\nRequired Qualifications:\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing, mechanical technician work, or other relevant experience OR Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology with 2+ years of relevant experience\nStrong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective solutions quickly\nHand and shop tool knowledge (power tools, saws, grinders, etc.)\nExcellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams\nExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines\nAbility to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment\nProactive and self-directed with the ability to work independently and as part of a team\nUnderstanding of basic design principles (sizing of hardware and plumbing, material selection, material compatibility, etc.)\nPreferred Qualifications:\nBasic knowledge of electrical systems with the ability to troubleshoot issues using a digital multimeter\nFabrication experience, including mounting and modifying existing equipment in place\nTravel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:\nTravel up to 10%, primarily local travel between site facilities\nFrequent movement through a manufacturing environment; regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate to the work location\nAbility to lift, move, or carry equipment and materials up to 50 pounds\nAbility to sit or stand at a desk and use a computer and keyboard for portions of the workday\nWork Authorization:\nMust be a US citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident, or a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b.\nThe good faith hourly range for this role is $27.00 - $32.00 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base pay only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive.
