The Energetics Operator II is an experienced production operator who can run multiple machines or complex processes with limited supervision. This role supports changeovers, minor troubleshooting, and mentoring of Operator I employees, while maintaining higher expectations for quality and throughput.\nThe position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor and is part of the Manufacturing and Operations team based in Penrose, CO/Pueblo, CO. This role is onsite based in Penrose, CO and Pueblo, CO.\nIn this role, the essential functions are:\nIndependently operate one or more production lines or machines, following standard work and work instructions, meeting rate and quality targets.\nPerform in-process inspections, use basic measuring tools, and document quality results.\nAssist with setups and changeovers, including tooling, fixtures, and basic parameter adjustments.\nTrain and mentor Operator I employees on safe, effective operation and standard work.\nMaintain accurate production, quality, and downtime records in logs or ERP/MES.\nFollow safety, 5S, and housekeeping standards; participate in continuous improvement activities.\nParticipate in training and cross-training to learn additional operations as needed.\nBasic Qualifications:\nWorking knowledge of hazardous material handling and explosive safety principles.\nAbility to follow complex instructions, batch sheets, and production travelers with accuracy.\nAwareness of quality control procedures and documentation requirements.\nCompetence in operating mechanical or automated production equipment.\nStrong focus on detail, safety, and reliability in hazardous environments.\nBasic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with measuring tools (scales, gauges, etc.).\nEligible to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses, including:Be 21 years of age or older.\nPass pre-employment drug test.\nPass State and Federal background checks.\n\nIf your experience aligns with our basic qualifications and you are inspired by our mission, we’d like to connect. If you don’t see the right role right now, Join Our Talent Community and stay connected as we continue to build what’s next.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nFamiliarity with lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and six sigma methodologies\nPhysical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:\nAbility to lift, move or carry items or equipment up to 50 pounds\nAbility to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods in an outdoor industrial environment\nAbility to work in a high-hazard explosive manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and explosives\nAbility to wear required PPE, including flame-resistant clothing and other safety equipment, and comply with site-specific requirements such as end-of-day showering\nAbility to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses\nCandidates must meet all eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain applicable state and federal explosives licenses, including minimum age requirements (21 and over), a drug-free workplace in compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 (41 U.S.C. §§ 8101-8106), Executive Order 12564 (Drug-Free Federal Workplace), applicable Department of Defense directives including DoD Instruction 1010.09 and DFARS 252.226-7003 and successful completion of any legally required background investigations.\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Parts 120-130) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730-774), applicants for this position must be a U.S. Person: a US Citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3).
