You will be responsible for delivering customized optical and laser-based measurement systems, from concept through installation and commissioning.\nThis position is suited for an engineer who is comfortable working in industrial environments, engaging directly with customers, and managing multiple technical projects simultaneously. The role is based in the GTA, with international travel required.\nResponsibilities\nManage end-to-end execution of customer projects, including scope definition, planning, coordination, and delivery\nParticipate in order review meetings to confirm technical requirements and develop project work orders\nDevelop installation drawing packages, including mechanical layouts, wiring diagrams, and system interconnections\nConfigure and adapt optical and instrumentation systems to meet customer-specific applications\nSupport system integration activities including setup, calibration, testing, and validation\nLead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), including documentation and customer sign-off\nInstall, commission, and service systems at customer sites globally\nProvide technical training and ongoing support to customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders\nTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrumentation, automation, and control systems in industrial environments\nCollaborate with production, engineering, and product teams to support design improvements and custom solutions\nDevelop and document custom communication protocols and system interfaces\nMonitor project timelines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple concurrent projects\nMaintain detailed project documentation, commissioning reports, and engineering change records (ECNs)\nSupport continuous improvement through feedback on product performance and field experience\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering preferred; relevant technologist or technician diploma with strong experience will be considered\n3-7 years of experience in industrial environments (manufacturing, steel mills, automation, or similar), including commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting\nStrong hands-on experience with industrial instrumentation, sensors, and automation systems\nWorking knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, drives, encoders, and process control systems\nExperience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet TCP/IP, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet)\nFamiliarity with industrial networks, including managed switches, fiber optics, and network configuration\nExperience with SCADA systems, data acquisition tools, and industrial databases is an asset\nAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings\nPractical experience with system integration, calibration, and validation processes\nExposure to HMI systems, vision systems, lasers, and motion control (servo/stepper motors) preferred\nProficiency with engineering and project tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MS Project, and ERP/PDM systems\nStrong project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines and competing priorities\nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams\nHigh attention to detail, with strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities\nValid G-class driver’s license\nAbility to travel internationally as required\nMust be eligible to work in Canada\nNICE to
