SUMMARY: The Shot Peen Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for assisting with and performing shot peening operations on aerospace components to enhance their fatigue resistance and overall durability. This position learns shot peening processes, equipment operation, and applicable industry standards through on-the-job training and established work instructions.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Follow verbal instructions, paper routers, customer specifications, and blueprints to layout work and prepare components for shot peening.
- Operate shot peening equipment according to established procedures and job requirements.
- Prepare components for processing, including cleaning and necessary preparations. Apply protective measures and masking to specified areas as required by the job.
- Conduct thorough visual inspections of components before and after process to identify defects or irregularities.
- Set up equipment and make routine adjustments to machine settings as directed.
- Assist with verification of intensities using Almen strips, blocks, and measuring gauges, and with checking test specimens against conformance and specification requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of shot peening operations, including process parameters, machine settings, and inspection results.
- Identify and report operational issues, defects, or nonconforming conditions to a higher-level technician or immediate supervisor.
- Participate in on-the-job training to build proficiency in shot peen processes, equipment operation, and applicable customer and industry specifications.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of relevant or technical work experience.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to follow verbal and written work instructions.

PREFERREDREQUIREMENTS:
- 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or machine operation environment.
- Prior exposure to shot peening or related surface treatment processes.
- Aerospace industry experience, especially overhaul and repair experience.
- Basic blueprint reading and familiarity with common measuring tools.
OTHER:
