The role combines visual interpretation, geospatial analysis, and quality assurance to produce reliable outputs for project teams.\nKey responsibilities\nInterpret high-resolution satellite and aerial imagery to identify and classify physical features and changes in the built environment.\nCompare imagery from multiple dates to assess spatial changes and document observations consistently.\nValidate interpreted features against reference datasets, flag discrepancies, and record uncertainty.\nDigitize, update, and maintain spatial features and attributes using QGIS and/or ArcGIS.\nAssess imagery suitability, considering spatial resolution, acquisition date, cloud cover, and shadows.\nPerform geospatial quality checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of deliverables.\nPrepare and manage datasets in SHP, KML/KMZ, GeoJSON, and GeoTIFF formats.\nDocument methods and findings, and prepare clear maps and analytical summaries for project teams.\nRequired skills and experience\n4-5 years of experience in GIS, remote sensing, or satellite image interpretation, with hands-on use of high-resolution satellite or aerial imagery.\nStrong visual interpretation skills, including recognition of built features, land disturbance, and changes in surface characteristics.\nExperience in multi-temporal image comparison, change detection, and validation against reference data.\nProficiency in QGIS and/or ArcGIS for visualization, digitization, and spatial analysis.\nUnderstanding of imagery quality factors and their effect on interpretation confidence.\nStrong attention to detail, geospatial QA/QC experience, and familiarity with the GIS formats listed above.\nPreferred experience\nExperience interpreting urban imagery or mapping the built environment.\nFamiliarity with commercial high-resolution satellite imagery providers or platforms.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, Geoinformatics,
