The role focuses on prototyping and maintaining tactical software infrastructure, cybersecurity and data management solutions, and CI/CD capabilities.\n\nResponsibilities\nThis DevOps role will be involved in the installation, integration, and testing of prototype Navy tactical software and supporting Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery of mature software\nThe DevOps Engineer will work with a small team based out of Manassas, VA, but will also be responsible for collaborating with a larger community of organizations and government representatives from across the country\nThe individual will work with limited supervision to develop and implement cybersecurity and data management solutions for inclusion in future tactical systems\nThe DevOps Engineer will help prototype and develop platform-as-a-service features for data management and cybersecurity for the next generation tactical system being deployed by the US Navy\nThe selected candidate will work with small teams on prototyping efforts that span a broad spectrum of computer technologies, including server, VM and container management, cybersecurity, data management, and networks\nAdditional work will include maintaining unclassified and classified on-premise cloud infrastructure, and developing CI/CD pipelines to automate the delivery, installation, integration, and testing of Navy tactical software\nAdditional work will include prototyping efforts that span a broad spectrum of computer technologies, including server, VM and container management, cybersecurity, data management, and networks\nConceive, develop, and evaluate novel engineering solutions to address the unique requirements of the maritime environment\nPrototype data architecture and/or cyber security tools and solutions\nEvaluate commercial and open-source products for use in CI/CD pipelines and in a PaaS\nIntegrate 3rd party applications\nParticipate in cross-domain working groups to coordinate prototyping efforts and brief results to senior engineers\nDesign, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, PaaS, and PaaS Services\nAssist in maintaining server bays in both unclassified and Secret lab environments\nIntegrate and and/or containerize 3rd party applications\nProvide and update technical documentation for all work performed\n\nSkills\nBachelor's or master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology\nProficient using Linux (RHEL 7, 8, or 9)\nProficient with Virtual Machines and related tools such as Proxmox\nProficient with physical server and switch management\nKnowledgeable with modern PaaS environment tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, KVM, and Helm\nExperience with shell scripting languages\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nInitiative, innovation, and resourcefulness\nUS Citizen with current SECRET Clearance or ability to obtain a SECRET clearance\nPrior experience in the SWFTS environment or with other US Navy tactical/weapon systems is desirable\nAdditional cybersecurity certs or experience\nExperience with Automated Testing\nExperience developing software with C++ or Java\nExtensive experience as a Linux administrator\nExperience with secure computing technologies; SELinux, PKI, zero-trust networks, etc\nNetworking experience\n\nBenefits\nHybrid (Onsite & Remote)\n\nCompany Overview\nVTG delivers force modernization and digital transformation solutions that expand America’s competitive advantage in the modern battlespace.
