You will play a key role in building resilient supply chains that enable rapid production scale-up while reducing supply risk, controlling cost, and ensuring long-term supply security for one of America's most critical manufacturing industries. \nResponsibilities \nDevelop and execute sourcing strategies supporting the production raw material requirements \nIdentify, evaluate, qualify, negotiate, and manage strategic supplier relationships across domestic and international markets. \nLead commercial negotiations for purchase agreements, long-term supply agreements, pricing structures, and supplier partnerships. \nSupport supply chain resilience initiatives through supplier diversification, inventory optimization, risk mitigation, and business continuity planning. \nMonitor global commodity markets, rare earth pricing, geopolitical developments, tariffs, trade restrictions, and regulatory changes impacting supply availability and cost. \nPartner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, and Program Management to support new product introductions, supplier qualification, and production readiness. \nCollaborate with Logistics and Trade Compliance to optimize transportation, customs strategies, Incoterms, and international supplier operations. \nPerform make-versus-buy analyses, should-cost modeling, total cost of ownership evaluations, and sourcing recommendations. \nDevelop and monitor supplier performance metrics, including quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness, and continuous improvement initiatives. \nSupport government, defense, and commercial customer requirements related to domestic sourcing, traceability, supply chain security, and DFARS compliance. \nDrive cost savings, productivity improvements, and strategic sourcing initiatives while maintaining continuity of supply. \nMaintain accurate supplier records, contracts, and sourcing documentation within ERP and procurement systems. \nResponsibilities and tasks outlined are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the business \nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline. \n5+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier development, or professional work experience \nExperience negotiating commercial agreements and managing strategic supplier relationships. \nstrong understanding of supplier risk management, contract negotiation, commodity management, and total cost of ownership principles. \nExperience using ERP, MRP, procurement, supplier relationship management (SRM), and supply planning systems. \nExcellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and project management skills\nMust be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.","description_format":"text","description_chars":3329,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Supply Chain","Natural Resources","Rare Earth Metals"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-05T12:02:19Z"}],"liveness":{"score":51,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.686,"p_room":0.75,"age_days":57,"expected_fill_days":71,"reasons":["conf:4","win:late"],"computed_at":"2026-09-25T05:45:01Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/vulcan-elements-strategic-sourcing-manager","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/vulcan-elements-strategic-sourcing-manager.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-26T00:03:23Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":8,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":4992,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-09-27T00:00:00Z"}}}
