This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in landfill operations, and a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.\nEssential Functions\nDirect and supervise daily landfill operations, including waste placement, compaction, cover application, and leachate management.\nMonitor and maintain equipment, ensuring proper functioning and scheduling necessary repairs.\nOptimize landfill airspace utilization and maximize operational efficiency.\nImplement and enforce operational procedures and best practices.\nEnsure strict adherence to all local, state, and federal environmental regulations, permits, and licenses.\nMaintain accurate records and prepare reports as required by regulatory agencies.\nConduct regular inspections to identify and address potential compliance issues.\nStay informed of changes in environmental regulations and implement necessary adjustments.\nSupervise, train, and mentor a team of landfill operators.\nConduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.\nFoster a positive and safe working environment.\nSchedule and assign tasks to ensure efficient workflow.\nManage inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment.\nPrepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.\nCritical Competencies\nLeadership Skills - Acts decisively and supports all aspects of the company to work together to accomplish objectives, vision, mission and values of Vulcan. Demonstrates commitment and follow-through, with reliable performance and attendance.\nEducation\nBachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.\nExperience\nProven experience in landfill operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nIn-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations pertaining to landfill operations.\nStrong understanding of waste management principles, including waste types, disposal methods, and environmental impacts.\nDemonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.\nOther Requirements\nExcellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.\nProficiency in using heavy equipment common to landfill operations.\nAbility to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.\nWork environment will be both indoors in an office and outside in the quarry or plant.\nWill occasionally be required to sit at a desk or operator's station.\nWill perform activities in unprotected heights, around moving machinery, be exposed to dust, fumes and gases; may be required to use hand tools or power tools.\nWill be exposed to changes in temperature/humidity and will require walking on uneven surfaces.\nSalary Range. The base salary range for this role is between $95,000 - $127,000 annual salary. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package.
