Performs start-up and shutdown procedures and monitors feed and materials flow and equipment settings throughout assigned responsibility area paying special attention to monitoring equipment and making adjustments as required to maximize production and to provide a quality product.\nEssential Functions\nMay be designated according to type of plant operated as Asphalt-Plant Operator (construction) or according to machine function as Crusher Operator (concrete prod.; construction).\nOperates processing plant and auxiliary units.\nObserves control panel gauges, dials, and operation of machinery to ensure conformance to processing specifications.\nMaintains switch house equipment.\nAssists with plant inspections and repair and maintenance of plant equipment as required.\nLubricates and may perform some repair work to crusher system.\nPerforms housekeeping duties around crusher area, including shoveling. remove spilled aggregate material, etc.\nPerforms other duties as assigned by supervision.\nCritical Competencies\nAttention to Detail - Ability to thoroughly and accurately complete tasks; meticulous and precise when handling information, and is critical in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and integrity of the results.\nCommunication Skills- Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, while actively listening and adapting the message to the audience.\nDecision Making - Makes informed, effective, and timely decisions by evaluating available information, considering potential outcomes, and choosing the best course of action; analyzes options, weighs risks and benefits, and uses sound judgment to reach decisions that align with organizational goals and values.\nResponsive - Demonstrates the ability to react quickly and effectively to changing circumstances, new information, or urgent requests, adapting approaches and priorities as needed to ensure timely and appropriate action.\nTechnical Proficiency-Knowledge and skills in a specific field, gained through education, training, experience, and continuous learning. Technical proficiency is valuable to employers for innovation, efficiency and problem-solving.\nEducation\nGraduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate desired.\nExperience\nExperience in the construction/mining/concrete industry preferred\nPreferred experience in operating plant crusher.\nMechanical repair skills preferred\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nMechanical skills preferred.\nMust be able to perform repetitive work on a continuous basis.\nMust have strong working knowledge of process control systems.\nMust be mechanically inclined and have ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems in relation to plant operations.\nMust have ability to effectively communicate in English, including reading and writing related to computer.\nOther Requirements\nShould be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb vertical access ladders, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, as well as, bend and lift 50 pounds.\nMust be able to work in outdoor weather conditions of heat and cold.\nMay be subject to wearing a respirator.\nMust be able to work required overtime which may include hours of up to or beyond scheduled hours.\nSalary. The salary is prescribed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
