They ensure the efficient operation of technical systems, resolve complex issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. This role requires a blend of strong technical knowledge in aggregates production and processing, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders. Assist plant management in implementing Business plans and strategic quality control and assurance initiatives. Develop workable solutions to business plan and product issues through the use of good judgment and analytical skills.\nEssential Functions\nMaintain compliance of the quality control laboratories and the calibrating of test equipment as required by governing agencies.\nConduct independent compliance sampling, testing, and audits of the QC labs and procedures at plants and sales yards. Report findings to plant management and key division management.\nAssist Business Units with the belt sampling program for crushers and screens including auditing compliance.\nParticipate in plant optimization efforts.\nAssist plant management in the interpretation of testing data to improve plant optimization and efficiencies. Understand the plant flows and production processes for assigned Business Units.\nAssist sales and marketing efforts by having a high degree of product knowledge and; applications.\nInvestigate, resolve and document customer complaints.\nAssist in the hiring, training and development of new and existing Process Technicians.\nPerform all Process Technician duties and fill in as needed.\nAssist in the development of new and improved quality control testing procedures and standardization.\nTrain Process Technicians and Operations Managers on the product quality database.\nProfessional verbal and written communications to customers and state DOTs..\nCritical Competencies\nDrives Results & Ensures Accountability - Drives for aggressive goals with a strong sense of urgency, even under tough circumstances, holding the organization to high standards and maintaining a keen focus on activities that will have a direct impact on business results. Degree preferred in a related technical field with expertise in construction materials characterization and applications.\nRequires thorough knowledge of company products, end-use products, design and evaluation methods, personnel and resource management skills, and budgeting.\nExperience\nMinimum of 5 years experience in experience in aggregates operations or related heavy industry, including leadership or supervisory experience.\nExperience in construction materials design, production and construction such as aggregate, hot mix asphalt, ready mix concrete, cement, DOT labs and/or the mining industry highly preferred.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nStrong understanding of aggregate production methods, equipment, and quality control procedures, along with familiarity with industry standards and best practices.\nProven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate teams, manage projects, and make data-driven decisions.\nMust sustain high ethical and moral standards, ability to inspire creativity, integrity, stewardship and loyalty with peers.\nHigh degree of product knowledge and application of product end usage.\nAbility to anticipate, plan and coordinate events, and proactively think through hypothetical “what if” scenarios to develop contingency plans.\nThorough understanding of ledge qualities, blending scenarios and plant setups to determine how proposed mine plans and plant changes could impact a plant’s ability to meet quality and State agency requirements.\nUnderstanding of all VMC quality information systems.\nExcellent written and oral communication skills.\nStrong analytical and mathematical skills.\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision; self-directed and motivated; highly organized.\nOther Requirements\nUse of telephone, computers, cell phones and other electronic devices is essential;\nMust have the ability sit for long periods of time;\nTravel in area of responsibility as well as a periodic need to travel by airline.\nMust have a current valid driver’s license.\nMust have the ability to occasionally climb heights.\nAbility to work in a deadline-oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision-making. Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.\nSalary Range. This is a salaried position. The salary range for this role, including the regional supplement, is between $108,000 - 120,000 annually. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.\nFAVR. This position is eligible for a vehicle reimbursement program.\nBonus/Equity Package.
