The ideal candidate is a security-minded engineer with deep experience in Kubernetes, container runtimes, and infrastructure automation. This is a highly visible role in a high-growth technology company, which will require a strong background in systems engineering, a security-first mindset, and the ability to operate across the full stack. This is your opportunity to join our fast growing team and leave your mark on Vultr and the future of Cloud Infrastructure.\nKey Responsibilities\nBuild and maintain production-grade automation using Ansible Terraform and Go\n\nDevelop and enhance core services behind VKE VLB (HAProxy) VCR (Container Registry) and Inference\n\nEngage deeply with Kubernetes internals (scheduler kubelet controllers CRDs)\n\nDesign implement and improve container runtime integrations (containerd runc OCI)\n\nArchitect CI/CD improvements and deployment pipelines for large-scale systems\n\nTroubleshoot complex issues across networking load balancing containers and distributed systems\n\nHarden platform infrastructure through security best practices including vulnerability scanning container image signing admission controllers and secrets management\n\nContribute directly to Vultr's open-source ecosystem (terraform provider crossplane vultr-cli govultr)\n\nImprove overall reliability observability and operability of cloud-native services\n\nCollaborate with product platform and infrastructure teams on feature delivery\n\nQualifications\n5+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure\n\nStrong experience with Kubernetes administration and internals including scheduler kubelet and CRDs\n\nProficiency in Go and scripting languages (Python Bash) for automation and tooling\n\nDeep knowledge of container security including image scanning runtime isolation and admission control\n\nExperience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform Ansible) and CI/CD pipeline design\n\nFamiliarity with observability stack (Prometheus Grafana alerting) and incident response practices\n\nExcellent problem-solving skills across networking load balancing and distributed systems\n\nCompensation\n$125,000 - $135,000\nFinal compensation will vary depending on years of experience, background/skill set, location, and applicable laws.\nInclusion & Privacy\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
