You will work on our Vynca Clinical solution, collaborating closely with design, product, and engineering teammates to deliver performant, secure, and user-friendly software that improves the delivery of high-touch care.\nYou’ll own features end-to-end-from backend APIs to frontend UI-and work across a modern stack that includes React, TypeScript, FastAPI, and GraphQL. We are looking for someone excited by clean code, thoughtful design, and a strong sense of ownership in building product-focused software.\nThis is a hybrid position based in San Mateo, CA, with an expectation of working from the office 2 days per week.\nWhat you’ll do\nBackend (Python + FastAPI)\nDesign and implement GraphQL and RESTful APIs using FastAPI and Strawberry GraphQL.\n\nBuild and maintain backend services to support UI features, authentication flows, and patient/provider workflows.\n\nModel data with SQLAlchemy and manage schema changes with Alembic.\n\nIntegrate with third-party APIs (e.g., HealthGorilla, Salesforce, PVerify, Google APIs, Slack).\n\nWrite unit and integration tests using Pytest and testcontainers.\n\nMaintain API security, access control, and logging practices.\n\nEvent driven architecture, CQRS design patterns, HAPI FHIR Server, Full Text/Fuzzy Search & Semantic Search.\n\nFrontend (React + TypeScript)\nBuild and maintain features in a React + TypeScript codebase using functional components and hooks.\n\nImplement responsive UI components using Material UI (MUI) and Emotion for styling.\n\nManage client-side state using Redux Toolkit, Formik, and Yup.\n\nIntegrate with backend services via GraphQL (Apollo Client) and REST APIs (Axios).\n\nHandle authentication flows with Auth0.\n\nBuild protected and dynamic routes with react-router-dom.\n\nWrite unit and integration tests using tools like Vitest, React Testing Library, Playwright and MSW.\n\nImplement features like file uploads, PDF generation (pdf-lib), digital signature capture, and custom surveys.\n\nUse LaunchDarkly for feature flagging and Vite for builds and local dev.\n\nYour experience and qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (advanced degree preferred).\n\n5+ years of experience in full stack or frontend/backend development roles.\n\nProficient in React and TypeScript.\n\nExperience integrating GraphQL and REST APIs.\n\nFamiliarity with backend frameworks such as FastAPI or similar.\n\nKnowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORMs like SQLAlchemy.\n\nComfortable with git, monorepos, and Yarn or similar package managers.\n\nTesting experience on both frontend (Vitest, Testing Library) and backend (Pytest).\n\nExperience working in Agile teams using Jira and Scrum ceremonies.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Strawberry GraphQL or Apollo Server, HAPI FHIR.\n\nFamiliarity with Auth0 and OAuth-based authentication.\n\nExperience with document generation or PDF handling (e.g., pdf-lib, fpdf2, survey.js).\n\nExposure to Slack bots, email validation, or healthcare-specific data models (FHIR, HL7).\n\nExperience with semantic search (e.g. typesense).\n\nKnowledge of building secure systems adhering to law governance standards like HIPPA.\n\nTech Stack You’ll Work With\nFrontend:\nReact 18+, TypeScript, Redux Toolkit, Apollo Client, Formik, Yup, MUI, Emotion, Axios, Vite, MSW, Testing Library, Vitest, pdf-lib, LaunchDarkly\n\nBackend:\nPython 3.11+, FastAPI, Strawberry GraphQL, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, Pydantic v2, Pytest, Auth0, Redis, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Typer, HAPI, Typesense\n\nDev & Infra:\nDocker, GitHub Actions, Poetry, testcontainers, Jira, Scrum\n\nWho You Are\nCurious and eager to learn-especially from principal engineers.\nThoughtful about UX and backend reliability.\nA proactive communicator and collaborator.\nExcited by healthcare complexity and impact.\nComfortable asking for help and giving/receiving feedback.\nAdditional Information\nThe hiring process for this role may consist of applying, followed by a phone screen, online assessment(s), interview(s), an offer, and background/reference checks.\n\nBackground Screening: A background check, which may include a drug test or other health screenings depending on the role, will be required prior to employment.\n\nJob Description Scope: This job description is not exhaustive and may include additional activities, duties, and responsibilities not listed herein.\n\nVaccination Requirement: Employees in patient, client, or customer-facing roles must be vaccinated against influenza.
