In this role, you will provide technical leadership across key projects, work with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful products, and mentor engineers to ensure the highest technical standards are met. You will play a key role in advancing our mission to improve patient care and outcomes through technology.\nThis position is remote and requires working Pacific Coast business hours (PST).\nWhat you'll do\nTechnical Leadership & Strategy\nArchitect, design, and lead the development of scalable, high-performance systems using event-driven architectures (e.g., Apache Kafka, Airflow, Flink) and distributed systems.\n\nChampion best practices in system design, code quality, CI/CD pipelines, and observability (e.g., DataDog, Kibana).System Design & Execution\n\nSystem Design & Execution\nOwn end-to-end delivery of mission-critical products, from concept to deployment, including:\nReal-time data pipelines: design and implement event-streaming and ETL flows that process millions of records per second with low latency.\n\nBatch & streaming hybrid architectures: leverage tools like Kafka Streams, Flink, and Spark Streaming.\n\nHealthcare data integration: ingest, transform, and serve FHIR, CCDA, HL7 V2/V3, and other clinical document standards at scale.\n\nMicroservices & customer-facing applications: build resilient, API-driven services with robust versioning and backward compatibility.\n\nOptimize system performance (e.g., API latency reduction, error-rate minimization) through distributed caching, code refactoring, and infrastructure improvements.\n\nDesign fault-tolerant, cloud-native solutions (AWS, Kubernetes) with a focus on resilience, cost efficiency, and scalability.\n\nLead migration/modernization efforts (e.g., legacy system rewrites, data lake/warehouse implementations) while ensuring seamless customer transitions.\n\nCross-functional Collaboration\nPartner with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, advocating for sustainable and innovative approaches.\n\nDrive R&D initiatives to prototype and validate new technologies (e.g., AI/ML integration, real-time analytics).\n\nCommunicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, ensuring alignment across teams.\n\nYour experience and qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (advanced degree preferred).\n\n5-7 years in software engineering.\n\nProficiency in Python and Java, with experience in modern frameworks (e.g., Flask/FastAPI, Spring Boot).\n\nMastery of event-driven architectures (Kafka, Kinesis), distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS, Kubernetes).\n\nStrong background in building scalable, real-time data pipelines (Kafka, Flink, Airflow) and hybrid batch/stream systems.\n\nHands-on experience integrating and processing healthcare data standards: FHIR, CCDA, HL7 V2/V3, DICOM, etc.\n\nDatabase design (SQL, NoSQL, DynamoDB) and data warehousing (Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).\n\nDemonstrated success in optimizing performance (latency, error rates) and reducing infrastructure costs (AWS)\n\nExceptional communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills; ability to navigate ambiguity and drive consensus.\n\n Preferred Qualifications\nExperience in healthcare technology or other regulated industries (Medicare/Medicaid, payor systems, EHR integrations).\n\nFamiliarity with real-time analytics, AI/ML integration, or genomic data pipelines\n\nTrack record of innovation in real-time reporting or streaming data products.\n\nWorking knowledge of healthcare security and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITRUST).\n\nAt this time we are only considering applicants in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington.\nAdditional Information\nThe hiring process for this role may consist of applying, followed by a phone screen, online assessment(s), interview(s), an offer, and background/reference checks.\n\nBackground Screening: A background check, which may include a drug test or other health screenings depending on the role, will be required prior to employment.\n\nJob Description Scope: This job description is not exhaustive and may include additional activities, duties, and responsibilities not listed herein.\n\nVaccination Requirement: Employees in patient, client, or customer-facing roles must be vaccinated against influenza.
