We're looking for a dependable Shipping Supervisor to join our team in Laurel, MD.\nSchedule:\nMonday - Friday\nPosition Summary The Shipping Supervisor leads shipping operations at Vytex’s window manufacturing facility, ensuring finished products are stored, scanned, staged, loaded, and shipped accurately, safely, and on time. The role oversees dealer partner pickups and installer pickups, leads and develops shipping associates, and coordinates transportation with JB Hunt’s onsite account manager. The supervisor collaborates with Production, Purchasing, Receiving, and Customer Service to meet operational goals, protect product quality, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to achieve shipping, service, safety, and transportation cost targets.\nKey Responsibilities\nOutbound Operations \nOversee the staging, inspection, loading, and scanning of finished windows and related products; complete shipping transactions in FeneVision and print all appropriate shipping paperwork to meet customer delivery commitments.\n\nBuild and manage daily and weekly shipping schedules in coordination with Production, Purchasing, and Customer Service\n\nEnsure orders are complete, accurate, and properly labeled; verify order accuracy through scanning products as loaded in FeneVision.\n\nMaintain organized staging areas and efficient dock flow to minimize handling and product damage\n\nOversee proper packaging, racking, scanning after racking, and load securement practices for glass and window products.\n\nDealer Partner Pickups and Installer Pickups \nAdminister the scheduling app for dealer partner pickups and installer pickups; coordinate proactive staging with Customer Service, dealer partners, and installers, confirm readiness, and communicate shortages or delays before arrival.\n\nVerify orders, quantities, screens, and related accessories before release; ensure accurate scanning when handing products to installers and dealer partners and obtain and retain signed packing slips.\n\nOversee returned product verification, scanning, and placement in designated locations; coordinate disposition with Customer Service and Quality Control department.\n\nJB Hunt and Transportation Coordination \nServe as the primary shipping contact for JB Hunt and coordinate daily operations through its onsite account manager, the point of contact for drivers.\n\nCoordinate daily truck and route plans, load sequencing, delivery priorities, and service exceptions with JB Hunt’s onsite account manager.\n\nCoordinate backhauls and third-party pickups with JB Hunt, Receiving, Purchasing, and vendors to minimize empty miles and transportation costs while protecting delivery commitments.\n\nCoordinate yard movements and placement of trucks, trailers, and other equipment to support safe access, loading priorities, dock availability, and efficient traffic flow.\n\nMonitor provider performance against key metrics such as on-time delivery, damage rates, and safety compliance\n\nHold regular performance reviews and resolve service issues, delays, and escalations\n\nEnsure equipment, including straps, is appropriate, available, and in good condition.\n\nSupport contract and rate reviews, and recommend improvements in cost, capacity, or service\n\nTeam Leadership \nInterview applicants and supervise, schedule, train, and develop all shipping department associates, including loaders and forklift operators.\n\nSet clear performance expectations, provide ongoing coaching and feedback, and complete annual performance reviews during each associate’s employment anniversary month.\n\nManage staffing, schedules, PTO, cross-training, and daily assignments to match production output and shipping demand; maintain coverage for callouts and specialized loading responsibilities.\n\nCross-train associates and develop trained backup coverage for critical tasks and supervisory absences; plan assignments to maintain consistent daily execution during PTO, callouts, and staffing gaps.\n\nEnsure all shipping associates have the tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), scanners, and other equipment needed to perform their jobs; arrange replenishment, repairs, or replacement as needed.\n\nFoster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement\n\nQuality and Damage Prevention \nFollow established handling, loading, and securement standards, enforce consistent execution, and refine practices to reduce breakage and damage.\n\nMonitor lost or damaged windows and other shipping exceptions; investigate missing units, damage, shortages, and delivery claims, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective action with the responsible departments.\n\nWork with the Quality Control department and Production to resolve recurring packaging or product issues\n\nDocument and track claims and communicate outcomes to Customer Service and management\n\nSafety and Compliance \nEnforce OSHA and company safety standards on the shipping dock and in the yard\n\nEnsure safe forklift and powered equipment operation and verify that only trained, evaluated, and authorized associates operate equipment.\n\nEnsure all lift operators complete required pre-use inspections and sign the equipment inspection books before operating a lift; remove unsafe equipment from service and coordinate repairs.\n\nTrain new forklift operators, or coordinate training with a qualified trainer, and ensure required practical evaluations, authorization, and refresher training are completed and documented.\n\nVerify that all loads meet applicable weight, securement, and documentation requirements\n\nCoordinate with the provider to ensure drivers follow site safety and traffic rules\n\nShipping Systems and Performance Monitoring \nEnsure accurate and timely creation of bills of lading, the Truck Content Summary, and the Shipping Manifest.\n\nMaintain accurate shipping and inventory transactions in FeneVision; enforce proper scanning to storage and staging locations, during location transfers, when loading trucks, and when releasing products to installers and dealer partners.\n\nUse shipping holds and exception controls to prevent unauthorized release; reconcile physical product locations with system records and resolve scanning discrepancies promptly.\n\nRemain familiar with automated reports and performance information, including shipping volumes, on-time delivery, lost or damaged windows, labor productivity, transportation costs, backhauls, and provider performance; respond to questions, explain variances, and act on issues with the responsible departments.\n\nMonitor all delivery scan receipt emails, verify that deliveries are scanned correctly, and coordinate appropriate follow-up and corrective action when scans are missing or incorrect.\n\nContinuous Improvement \nIdentify opportunities to improve load efficiency and lower shipping and handling costs.\n\nMaintain organized docks, staging areas, and storage locations; improve layouts and workflows to reduce unnecessary handling, delays, and safety risks.\n\nPartner with cross-functional teams to improve order accuracy, communication, and the customer delivery experience\n\nQualifications\nRequired \nAbility to work in a fast-paced production environment and adjust priorities as needed\n\n3+ years of experience in shipping, warehouse, or logistics operations, preferably in manufacturing\n\n2+ years in a supervisory or management role\n\nWorking knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe material handling practices\n\nStrong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills\n\nBasic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn FeneVision, scanning processes, and other shipping applications.\n\nPreferred \nExperience using ERP or warehouse software;
