The team collaborates across Wabtec sites to develop and support cab structures and packaging solutions for locomotive applications.\nHow will you make a difference?\nAs a member of the Engineering organization, you will be responsible for the design and development of locomotive cab structures, components, and packaging in accordance with system and subsystem requirements and applicable standards. You will apply strong mechanical design expertise to high-impact global projects, working closely with senior technologists, leaders, manufacturing teams, and cross-functional partners. This role owns key technical, safety, cost, reliability, and performance requirements while ensuring compliance with robust Wabtec Engineering processes. You will also support design reviews, verification and validation activities, manufacturing execution, and resolution of supplier and field issues.\nWhat do we want to know about you?\nBachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.\nProfessional experience in mechanical design, particularly in light fabrication applications. \nExpertise in structural design ownership, including material strength and fatigue calculations, bolted joints, and welded joints. \nKnowledge of light and heavy structural design principles. \nAbility to navigate Siemens NX (UG) and Teamcenter. \nKnowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). \nBasic knowledge of ASME Y14.5, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and applicable AWS specifications.\nSound knowledge of Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM). \nKnowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) is an advantage. \nStrong technical aptitude, including the ability to use relevant engineering tools and systems. \nEffective communication and presentation skills. \nStrong ownership, teamwork, time management, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. \nWhat will your typical day look like?\nDesign and develop locomotive cab structures and components using sound engineering principles and in accordance with business standards, engineering processes, and program requirements.\nDevelop design concepts, evaluate alternatives, identify technical risks, and define mitigation plans. \nExecute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles. \nLead designs through technical and cross-functional reviews, confirming design scope, intent, and outputs. \nDocument technical data in accordance with engineering policies and quality procedures. \nPrepare verification and validation plans for cab structures, packaging, and related functionality. \nPerform design risk analysis and define corrective actions. \nOwn structural and packaging requirements related to technical performance, safety, cost, reliability, and quality. \nWrite drawing change requests and coordinate with drafting teams on layouts, detailed designs, drawings, and implementation of changes. \nReview and approve designs developed by Wabtec designers and detailed drawings prepared by drafting teams. \nProvide shop-floor support for in-house manufacturing and resolve supplier and field issues. \nCollaborate with subsystem engineering, systems engineering, drafting, manufacturing, suppliers, and other stakeholders across global sites. \nManage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining alignment with agreed scope, priorities, and schedules. \nCommunicate significant technical issues, risks, decisions, and developments in a timely manner. \nParticipate in organizational initiatives and team activities. \nOur Commitment to Embrace Diversity:\nWabtec is a global company that invests not just in our products, but also our people by embracing diversity and inclusion.
