Must be able to perform duties while adhering to company safety standards and all applicable local, state and federal rules regarding locomotives maintenance and repair.\nHow will you make a difference?\nAssists other associates and completes special assignments as needed.\nWhat do we want to know about you?\nMinimum education, job experience, certifications, skills, knowledge and abilities that incumbent must typically have to perform the essential functions of the job acceptably with or without a reasonable accommodation.\n High school degree or equivalent; training in maintenance and repair operations and safety certification may be required.\n Knowledge of basic mechanics.\n Knowledge of machine testing procedures.\n Understanding of equipment maintenance requirements.\n One year in diesel engine or electrical repairs.\n Attention to detail.\n Able to schedule work.\n Solid problem solving skills.\n Good oral communication abilities.\n Able to sue all related mechanical and testing equipment.\nWhat will your typical day look like?\nAssumes responsibility for the timely and effective performance of maintenance procedures.\n Fuel, sand, and daily inspections of locomotives.\n Performs preventive maintenance according to established schedules. Clean oils, fills tanks, and adjust equipment to ensure smooth operations.\n Complete basic repairs on equipment and machines. Trouble shoots and repairs diesel engines, electrical systems, air brake systems.\n Field service work. Travels to locations in and around Houston, TX using company vehicles to perform maintenance duties in the field.\n Conducts regular visual inspections of maintenance equipment including company vehicles.\n Completes all maintenance functions in accordance with established procedures, policies, and safety regulations.\nAssumes responsibility for the efficient, timely, and accurate completion of maintenance records.\n Update maintenance log books.\n Signs off work orders to reflect work complete\nAssumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with area personnel.\n Meets the needs of the customer by completing maintenance functions in a timely manner.\n Makes suggestions to improve operational procedures as appropriate.\n Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant equipment problems. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.\n Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.\n Stays informed of maintenance requirements.\n Completes special projects as assigned.\nWhat about the physical demands of the job?\nWork is typically performed under good working conditions; while exposure to any environmental elements may occur, such exposure is generally not present to the extent of being disagreeable.\nAbility to lift 50 pounds.
