In this role, you will collaborate with customers, suppliers, systems engineering, software engineering, cybersecurity teams, manufacturing, validation, and service organizations to develop robust and reliable network architectures that support Wabtec's next-generation transportation technologies.\nHow will you make a difference?\nAs a Senior Engineer - Locomotive Network Controls, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for the architecture, development, and validation of locomotive communication networks. You will leverage your expertise in network design, controls systems, and cybersecurity to support new product introductions, product enhancements, and field issue resolution. Your work will directly impact product reliability, safety, maintainability, and performance while supporting Wabtec's digital and electrification initiatives.\nWhat do we want to know about you?\nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.\nMinimum of 10 years of engineering experience, including at least 3 years of Ethernet network design experience.\nExperience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 network switch configuration and network architecture development.\nKnowledge of communications networks, controls systems, software integration, and cybersecurity principles; controls or software development experience is preferred.\nStrong technical leadership, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.\nAbility and willingness to work hands-on in laboratory and locomotive environments supporting design validation, testing, and troubleshooting activities.\n What will your typical day look like?\nArchitect and develop Serial, Ethernet, and ARCNET communication networks for locomotive and transit applications.\nLead network design activities for new product introduction (NPI) programs, product upgrades, and customer requisitions.\nDevelop and manage network requirements, design standards, and validation methodologies to ensure robust system performance.\nCollaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure proper integration, implementation, and validation of locomotive control systems and network architectures.\nSupport cybersecurity initiatives by incorporating secure network design principles and requirements into product development activities.\nInvestigate and resolve field and laboratory issues through structured troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.\nProvide technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams while communicating program status, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.\nSupport the development of next-generation locomotive technologies, including battery-electric and transit applications.\n What about the physical demands of the job?\nAbility to work in office, laboratory, manufacturing, and locomotive environments.\nAbility to safely work around high-power, medium-voltage, and high-current electrical systems during testing and validation activities.\nAbility to remain stationary and use a computer for extended periods.\nOccasional travel to customer, supplier, and Wabtec facilities may be required.\nYou may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.\nMore information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, is available at mywabtecbenefits.com.\nRelocation assistance may be provided if eligibility requirements are met.\nWabtec will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the U.S. for this opening. The salary rate for this role is currently $104800-149300 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
