Read more.\nThis position is based onsite in Waltham, MA.\n In an agile R&D development environment, the incumbent designs and programs embedded software as part of the maintenance and development of new software for new products related to the test and measurement market. The incumbent works in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in a state-of-the-art environment.\nSpecific Responsibilities\n\nSystem Requirements and Features:Contribute to the development of the Product Backlog and the Sprint Backlog;\nParticipate in Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Sprint Retro meetings;\n\nArchitecture :Contribute to the definition of the optimal architecture of the software;\nDefine and deploy a continuous integration and refactoring strategy, in collaboration with the DevOps team;\nIn collaboration with the cybersecurity champion, design security controls into the system architecture;\n\nProduct Design:Support the iterative design of complete embedded software;\nIdentify, select and ensure the development of interfaces and communication protocols between the various software and hardware components;\nEnsure optimal use of the resources used by the Firmware, such as Multi-Core CPUs, GPU, DSP, FPGA and memory;\nManage and ensure backward compatibility of the software;\nDevelop firmware and embedded software using secure coding standards and eliminate common vulnerabilities;\nBuild and maintain security mechanisms;\nImplement effective Code Reviews for the team;\nParticipate in Daily Scrum Meetings (DSM).\n\nProduct verification and validation:Ensure that the design meets the expectations of the Definition of Done at the end of each Sprint;\nEnsure the implementation and execution of automated tests in the continuous integration environment;\nEnsure the development of diagnostic tools (Spy);\nWork to continuously reduce the software quality debt;\nPerform vulnerability assessment and security testing;\n\nTransfer to production:Contribute with the project manager and the DevOps team to the planning of the work required for the transfer to production;\nEnsure efficient transfer to production by providing a set of production engineering tools to verify electronics assembly and perform product calibration.\n\nGeneral Responsibilities Support less experienced software designers working on the same project;\nSupport the introduction and optimize the use of new methods and tools according to the company's technological direction;\nCollaborate with the various stakeholders to resolve inter-departmental technical problems including cybersecurity issues;\nPromote inter-site work and ensure an effective and open link with counterparts in other sites.\n\n Be involved and actively participate in the development and implementation of the culture of continuous improvement.\nTechnical skills:\n\n· Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent;\n· 5 years of experience in embedded software design;\n· Advanced experience with microcontrollers and access libraries;\n· Ability to program in a Windows or Linux environment;\nAbility to program in C/C++;\n· Ability to program in Python, an asset;\nExperience with optimization techniques (speed, memory space, multi-threading, ...);\nKnowledge of a decentralized version control tool (git, mercurial, ...);\nExperience with Design Patterns;\nExperience with secure development lifecycle is preferred;\nFluency in mathematics (linear algebra and trigonometry);\nExperience with schematic representation (UML) is an asset;\n· Have made a significant contribution to the development of commercially successful products;\n· Knowledge of test and measurement applications;\n· Intermediate English.\n\nBehavioral skills:\nAct with rigor;\nAbility to solve complex problems;\nDemonstrate autonomy;\nHave a sense of initiative;\nDemonstrate leadership;\nBe open to different ideas and perspectives;\nAbility to work effectively in a multifunctional team;\nAbility to communicate openly in a constructive and well-articulated manner.\nSalaried:\nPay Range $95,000 - $130,000 base salary depending on experience plus 10% annual bonus target.\n**Many Wabtec Inspection Technology positions are located at export-control-restricted work locations or require access to export-controlled information. The salary rate for this role is currently $95,000 - $130,000. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
