Learn more at wabteccorp.com\nPosition Summary\nAs the Engineering Manager, Machine Vision Algorithms, you will lead a team of computer vision, machine learning, and software engineers responsible for developing and sustaining algorithm solutions for Wabtec's Wayside Monitoring portfolio. Working closely with the US-based Senior Manager responsible for the overall Machine Vision Algorithms (MVA) organization, you will drive execution of the technical roadmap, build engineering capability within the Bangalore team, and ensure high-quality delivery of machine vision and AI solutions.\nThis role requires a hands-on technical leader who can manage a team, collaborate across global engineering organizations, and drive development of scalable machine vision and machine learning solutions that deliver customer value. The position is based in Bangalore and serves as a key extension of the global MVA leadership team.\nKey ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & People Development\nLead, mentor, coach, and develop a team of machine vision, AI/ML, and software engineers located in Bangalore.\nFoster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.\nSupport hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development activities.\nBuild technical competency and leadership capabilities within the team.\nPartner with global engineering leaders to ensure effective resource planning and talent growth.\nTechnical Leadership\nDrive execution of the Machine Vision Algorithms roadmap established by the global engineering organization.\nProvide technical leadership for computer vision, image processing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning initiatives.\nLead the development and deployment of image processing, computer vision, and AI/ML solutions for wayside monitoring applications.\nGuide engineers in problem definition, system architecture, algorithm development, testing, optimization, and deployment.\nDrive data collection, validation, model training, performance evaluation, and continuous improvement activities.\nParticipate in architecture reviews and technical design discussions to ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, maintainable, and aligned with product requirements.\nPartner with global engineering and product teams to deliver production-ready AI/ML solutions.\nContribute to MLOps, model governance, and engineering best practices.\nProduct Development & Execution\nCollaborate with Product Management, Architecture, Program Management, and Systems Engineering teams to deliver product commitments.\nTranslate business and customer requirements into engineering tasks and project plans.\nDrive timely execution of software and algorithm development activities.\nImprove engineering productivity through automation, common frameworks, component reuse, and best practices.\nSupport release planning, effort estimation, risk management, and issue resolution.\nQuality & Engineering Excellence\nEnsure compliance with Wabtec engineering processes, RAILS requirements, cybersecurity standards, and quality expectations.\nPromote software engineering best practices including CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and documentation.\nMonitor engineering metrics and proactively address quality, reliability, and delivery challenges.\nDrive root cause analysis and corrective actions for product and process issues.\nGlobal Collaboration\nPartner closely with the US-based Senior Manager of Machine Vision Algorithms and other global engineering leaders.\nCollaborate effectively across distributed teams in North America, India, and other regions.\nParticipate in technical reviews, release planning, and strategic engineering discussions.\nProvide status updates, technical recommendations, and execution visibility to leadership.\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or related STEM discipline.\n8+ years of experience in Machine Vision, Computer Vision, Image Processing, Machine Learning, or related areas.\n3+ years of people leadership or technical team management experience.\nExperience developing and delivering production-quality software solutions.\nStrong experience with Python and modern software development practices.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster's Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or related discipline.\nExperience with OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX, or equivalent machine vision frameworks.\nKnowledge of image segmentation, object detection, classification, camera calibration, feature extraction, and image enhancement techniques.\nExperience with cloud platforms and containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.\nFamiliarity with MLOps, model lifecycle management, and CI/CD pipelines.\nExperience developing AI/ML solutions for industrial, transportation, manufacturing, or predictive maintenance applications.\nKnowledge of rail industry technologies, wayside monitoring systems, or industrial inspection solutions is preferred.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nLeadership Competencies\nStrong technical coaching and mentoring capabilities.\nResults-oriented leader who drives execution and accountability.\nEffective collaborator in a globally distributed organization.\nAbility to balance technical depth with people leadership responsibilities.\nCustomer-focused mindset with a passion for quality and innovation.\nContinuous learner who embraces new technologies and industry trends.\n What could you accomplish in a place that puts People First?\nAt Wabtec, it’s not just about a job - it’s about the impact you make.
