Visit our website to learn more!\nRole Summary/Purpose:\nLead Engineer - Mechanical test Engineer is responsible for mechanical component/sub system testing. He / She has to define test requirements and equipment needed, work with engineering, suppliers on design and development of test equipment /systems, determine conditions under which tests are to be conducted and procedures to be followed and perform special, standard and non-standard tests.\nEssential Responsibilities\nTranslating the Engineering requirements into a Test requirement, development of specifications for lab test setup, Building the required test facilities and supporting the Validations of Engine, Electromechanical locomotive components and subsystems\nDesign and develop innovative, scalable, flexible and test set ups, Test fixtures in the lab, Consistent with the Validation requirements of the product design teams\nDrive operational and execution excellence through innovative planning, resource engagement and close working with both local and global stakeholder teams.\nThe individual will also drive synergies with external labs/partners to expand our capabilities beyond in-house capacity\nWork closely with site cross functional teams of EHS, Facilities, Compliance, Import/Export, Logistics etc to integrate lab plans as applicable for implementation\nProvide Estimates of the Testing Duration as input to planning Process.\nHold design reviews for test plans & procedures, test results reviews and Document test results.\nPrepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business\nTest planning, test execution and report generation for the field test activity.\nIdentifying instruments required for the field test and make addition in the inventory as needed.\nInstruments identification, calibration status check, packing and dispatch to customer location and return shipment upon test completion with the help of logistics team.\nCo-ordinate w/ direct customer for test execution & provide regular feedback to the team regarding the testing.\nData processing for the test data and draw a conclusion within 2 weeks of test completion.\nFollow up with quality team for the timely calibration of test equipment.\nProvide test estimates, obtain P.O. for test services from customer, submit invoice and formal closure of test.\nIn lab validation of equipment before sending to field,9. Data upload to designated servers under test request number\nGood knowledge of Reliability testing, Weibull analysis, Life predictions analysis\nQualifications/Requirements:\nBachelors/Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering discipline from institute of repute\nMin. 8 Plus years’ experience in mechanical design, development and validation, preferably in the field of automotive / large bore engines/Locomotive Components.\nDemonstrated expertise in Mechanical system /sub system/ component validations\nStrong understanding of Mechanical testing domain, ability to Design from fundamental physics /Engineering fundamentals and the application of the same\nFamiliarity with Industrial Automation and Controls Development.\nExperience/familiarity in a lab environment with data acquisition systems, test instrumentation, industrial test laboratory environments and procedures\nExperience with sensors including accelerometers, strain gages, thermocouples, load cells, and microphones and transducers.\nExcellent oral & written technical communication\nDemonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to influence stakeholders, solve problems, and deliver results\nAbility to multi-task & prioritize effectively\nTeam player with ability to work with minimal direction\nStrong organizational skills and prior success in working with cross-functional teams\nCommitment to Integrity & Compliance\nDesired Characteristics:\nGlobal exposure with experience of working with global partners\nProven record of demonstrated expertise in electrical component validation\nDesign of test benches and rigs and for laboratory testing and prototype testing\nAdvanced degree is a plus\nDemonstrated capability of leading projects and executing on time/quality/cost.\nGood hands on experience of instruments used for the field test ex: DAQ systems, sensors.\nGood knowledge of possible problems equipment may encounter and troubleshooting.\nShould be able to select instruments on their own for the required application.\nHands on experience of instrumentation, cable routing, connection with DAQ, channel set up.\nShould have experience and knowledge in selecting appropriate sampling rate for the given application, various online processing techniques available in the DAQ.\nShould have good experience with performing component and system level tests for railroad application.
