How will you make a difference?\nAs a member of the CNC Machinist Trainee Group, you will be responsible for performing multiple tasks to support the fabrication of locomotive/mining components. In addition to machining, you will have responsibility for assembling components and other duties as assigned. Machinists are responsible for working together as a team to improve manufacturing processes and promote a climate of cooperation. This is an estimated 9-month training program aimed at developing you into a fully qualified machinist; completion of a hands-on assessment is a requirement.\nThis is a 2nd shift or weekend shift position. Throughout the estimated 9-month training program, you will work on 1st shift and will be transitioned to your assigned shift following the successful completion of training and your hands-on assessment.\nDesired Skill Sets:\nWorking knowledge of G&M code\nMinimum Requirements:\nA minimum of 6 months of CNC Machining experience, or successful completion of a 6-month CNC certificate program.\nBasic knowledge of blueprints and manufacturing instructions to produce machined parts.\nMust be able to lift material up to 40 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.\nMust have ability to properly use and care for assigned tools and equipment.\nMust be able to adhere to standards, do a quality job in a safe manner, within allotted time.\nMust have basic computer skills.\nMust be able to pass a pre-employment technical assessment.\nEvery employee will be an in-process inspector.\nMust be 18 years of age or older.\nMust have high-school diploma or GED or equivalent.\nMust be willing to wear personal protective equipment, for example safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs and safety shoes.\nMust be willing to work in a tobacco-free environment.\nBe willing to take a drug test & submit to a background check as part of the selection process.\nBe willing to submit to random drug tests.\nLegal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.\nMust be willing to work as necessary to meet requirements of the position, including the ability to work occasional weekends and scheduled overtime.\nWhat will your typical day look like?\nCNC Machinists may include but is not limited to the following:\nUnderstand and perform all functions required to set up and operate a variety of CNC and /or manual machining equipment including but not limited to: 4 axis vertical lathes, horizontal boring machines, gear gasher, gear grinder, cylindrical grinder, mills and coordinate measuring machines.\nUse standard machine tools including, but not limited to drill press, band saw, lathe, press breaks, welding equipment etc., and a variety of hand, electric, and pneumatic tools\nChange and adjust tools as required to maintain quality\nSet up both fixtures and parts for machining\nDe-burr parts\nUse manual and electronic inspection devices to check multiple quality parameters\nStrong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and mathematical abilities required\nPromote climate of cooperation; leading by example mentoring others in safety, quality, environmental, lean and high performance work team philosophies\nWork with all facility employees on improving manufacturing processes through prototyping, fabrication and experimental machining to develop and prove concepts and design and implement necessary fixtures and tooling for manufacturing improvements\nAssembly of components and full assembly of finished parts\nRead and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications\nKnowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control techniques\nMaterial transport including the use of but not limited to, radio controlled cranes, forklifts and tuggers\nPrying and setting heavy equipment may also be required\nAll machinists will perform multiple tasks in any combination and concentration of the above-mentioned areas and will rotate through all or most of the processes rather than being assigned to a specific task. Machinists must be able to work as part of a team having responsibility for assembling numerous components and other duties as assigned.\nThe starting hourly rate of this position is $29/hour (with additional night shift differential of $1/hr when working 2nd shift hours.)\nAvailable shifts:\nShift availability is dependent on business needs.\n4-day, 10-hour work week: 4-day (Monday through Thursday), 2nd shift hours are 3:15PM - 1:45AM. 3-day, 12-hour work week: 3-day (Friday through Sunday), weekend shift hours are 5:00AM - 5:30 PM. Must be able to work scheduled shift hours.\nThe actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
