It designs, develops, and maintains various electronic equipment for trains. The monitoring team in this division is responsible for the Bach-Simpson monitoring products and projects.\nHow will you make a difference?\nAs a member of the software team in Bach-Simpson, you will report to the Software Manager. You will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of cloud computing websites which incorporate AI to deliver innovative and differentiated product capabilities. You will assist the Software Manager with certain operational activities including, but not limited to, sprint planning and backlog grooming, technical problem solving and design oversight, customer releases, and cybersecurity planning and compliance with internal policies.\nWhat do we want to know about you?\nThe following are the qualifications required for this role:\nBachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field\nMinimum 5 years of professional experience with cloud computing platforms and systems engineering\nIntegrating custom datasets with AI for analysis and reporting with hands-on experience building applications with Large Language Models and training custom models.\nDevelopment on a variety of platforms, including Windows IoT and Linux, with strong proficiency in languages and frameworks such as C/C++ (x86/64, ARM, Motorola, Freescale), C#, and Python.\nLegacy Modernization: Proven experience migrating legacy architectures to modern cloud/web solutions.\nCloud & Databases: Hands-on exposure to Azure and/or AWS cloud environments. Strong working knowledge of relational databases (MS-SQL, MySQL, Postgres, Entity Framework).\nDev Tools: Familiarity with Git-based version control (GitLab, GitHub) and collaboration tools.\nSoft SkillsExceptional communication skills with the ability to confidently mentor others and present ideas to business leaders.\nAn adaptable, team-oriented mindset with a genuine desire to collaborate.\n\nExperience working in and managing the Agile development model (e.g. scrum master)\nHands-on experience addressing application-level vulnerabilities, including secure coding practices and dependency management.\nDemonstrable passion for programming (pet projects, contributions to open-source software, etc.)\nAbility to see “the bigger picture”; suggest and implement process improvements\nAbility to communicate (verbal and written) clearly and accurately in English\nEfficient self-motivator with a proven ability to prioritize multiple streams of work and meet deadlines\nExcellent attention to detail.\nEligibility Requirements:\nLegal authorization to work in Canada is required\nInternational travel, including to the United States\nWhat will your typical day look like?\nThe following are essential responsibilities for this role:\nParticipating in daily stand-up meetings with the team\nAnalyzing technical requirements\nDesigning software to implement formal requirements\nImplementing software designs and reviewing the proposed designs of others\nDebug, root cause, and correct software defects\nCreation and maintenance of formal software design documentation, including cybersecurity components\nPlanning sprints and grooming the group’s backlog\nAssist other groups with understanding product behavior\nWork with product management to respond to customer comments\nWhat about the physical demands of the job?\nYou may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to lift, carry, and move test hardware and equipment up to 30 lbs.\nAbility to work at a lab bench performing hands-on testing, setup, and troubleshooting.\nAbility to connect and interact with small components, cables, and test fixtures.\nAbility to stand or sit for extended periods depending on testing needs.\nAbility to visually inspect hardware devices and test systems.\nAbility to work in an electronics lab environment following ESD and safety protocols.\nAbility to use hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers) for assembling and maintaining test setups.\nAbility to connect disconnect various connectors on a daily basis as testing needs.\nHave manual dexterity to be able to work with various hardware for testing purposes.\nOur job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between $70,000 to $93,500 annually. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location.
