Read more.\nThis position is hybrid, 3 days a week minimum onsite in Waltham, MA office.\n In an agile R&D development environment, the incumbent designs mechanical products and transducers as part of the development of new products related to the test and measurement market, specifically ultrasound transducers. The incumbent may supervise or approve the work of other designers (if applicable) and ensures an exemplary level of quality in the concepts developed. The incumbent works in collaboration with product management to evaluate and execute custom design requests. The incumbent supports or leads sustaining projects for production.\nProduct Requirements and Features:Contribute to the analysis, understanding and documentation of product requirements and functionalities in collaboration with the system architect and other disciplines;\nDevelop and propose mechanical concepts;\nCharacterize the mechanical and acoustic performance requirements of the product (standards, sensitivity, frequency, surface treatment, etc.);\nCharacterize manufacturing, assembly and after-sales service requirements, in collaboration with operations;\nCharacterize the physico-mechanical properties of materials and components (geometry, stiffness, mass, thermal and fluidic effects, etc.);\n\nProduct Design:Define and perform the mechanical design of transducers and their manufacturing\nManage the technical risks of development under their responsibility;\nEnsure that production cost objectives are met;\nOversee mechanical product design reviews;\nApprove parts and assembly plans;\n\nProduct verification and validation:Define the validation protocol for each of the mechanical components\nEnsure that the design meets product specifications;\n\nTransfer to production:Contribute with the project manager to the planning of the work required for the transfer to production;\nProvide the mechanical specifications necessary for operations and technical writing;\nEnsure the updating of manufacturing documents in the PLM tool (Bill of Materials, drawings, 3D parts, etc.).\n\nGeneral Responsibilities\nSupport less experienced mechanical designers working on the same project;\nCollaborate with the various stakeholders to resolve inter-departmental technical problems;\nPromote cross-site work and ensure an effective and open link with counterparts in other sites\nSupport the introduction and optimize the use of new methods and tools according to the company's technology direction\nBe involved and actively participate in the development and implementation of the culture of continuous improvement.\nEducation / Experience Technical Skills:\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Physics or similar with 5 years of design experience; Masters Degree and 4+ years experience or PhD with 0-2 years experience considered\nPossess mechanical intuition to identify the physics problems of products in development;\nDemonstrated experience in organizing and monitoring development work in projects;\nProficiency in mechanical design tools (SolidWorks Suite);\nHave made a significant contribution to the development of commercially successful products;\nKnowledge of ultrasound test and measurement applications is a plus\nKnowledge of piezoelectric ceramics and materials is a plus\nMachining and prototyping experience is a plus\nBehavioural skills:\nAct with rigor;\nAbility to solve complex problems;\nDemonstrate autonomy;\nHave a sense of initiative;\nDemonstrate leadership;\nBe open to different ideas and perspectives;\nAbility to work effectively in a multifunctional team;\nAbility to communicate openly in a constructive and well-articulated manner.\nPay Range $95,000 - $128,000 base salary depending on experience plus 10% annual bonus target.\n**Many Evident positions are located at export-control-restricted work locations or require access to export-controlled information. The salary rate for this role is currently $95,000 - $128,000. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
