Visit our website to learn more!\nEngineering Technical Leader - Embedded Software\nWho will you be working with?\nYou will be part of MCA (Modular Control Architecture) software team. The MCA SW architecture is highly flexible, made up of many modular software, application, and hardware elements. While flexibility adds opportunity and capability, it also adds complexity, driving the importance of a robust platform SW and communication strategy. MCA is built on MBSE (Model Based System Engineering) principles for requirements management and test cases with full traceability built into the MBSE model.\nHow will you make a difference?\nThis MCA Platform Software Engineer will focus on delivering and sustaining an integrated series of board support packages (BSP), core software services, and middleware applications that are foundational to the MCA architecture. The Engineer will contribute to the definition of the strategy on which technologies to leverage, which security practices to employ, and will be responsible for implementing those strategies. This responsibility is cross functional in nature and requires close collaboration amongst various MCA teams.\nWhat do we want to know about you?\nBachelor of Science in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other Engineering discipline\n\nMinimum of 7 years’ software engineering experience\n\nExperience in developing, modifying, and debugging device drivers, bootloaders, or board support packages\n\nExperience with Linux OS on embedded systems\n\nKnowledge of Linux kernel internals (scheduling, memory management, IPC, file systems, etc.)\n\nExperience with hardware/software integration, Docker, languages such as C/C++, Bash, Python\n\nAbility and willingness to travel as required\n\nWhat will your typical day look like?\nProvide technical leadership to maintain high standards of software quality by establishing good practices, drive process and guide team to deliver consistently\n\nProvide timely communications on significant issues, risks, or developments\n\nPlan individual work for assigned MCA platform software features as input to project plans\n\nDesign, develop, maintain, and test MCA Platform SW: BSP, Platform Services, MCA Middleware applications to connect MCA Platform with Business Logic applications\n\nEnsure MCA Platform SW is robust against expected configurability, performance, cyber security, and quality requirements\n\nReview and refine control system-level requirements to understand design intent and reconcile with MCA Platform capabilities\n\nDerive MCA Platform software requirements and interfaces from system requirements, allocate them to MCA Platform software components\n\nDevelop, review, and execute hardware/software and software/software test plans for unit testing and MCA Platform integration testing\n\nLead and participate in MCA Platform software troubleshooting efforts to root cause failures and defects on the various test environments\n\nPrepare and present technical design decisions and results to internal and external customers\n\nEnsure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures\n\nSupport V&V through validation test cases execution on various test environments\n\nProvide timely communications on significant issues, risks, or developments\n\nPlan individual work for assigned MCA platform software features as input to project plans\n\nPrepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business\n\nOur Commitment to Embrace Diversity:\nWabtec is a global company that invests not just in our products, but also our people by embracing diversity and inclusion.
