Trip Optimizer creates and executes fuel-efficient operating plans that meet schedule and train-handling requirements, while Locotrol enables coordinated control of distributed locomotives throughout the train. Together, these technologies improve train handling, fuel efficiency, operational safety, and the ability to operate longer and heavier trains.\nAs a Systems Engineer, you will work closely with engineering teams, product management, and railroad customers to support the development of innovative solutions that advance automation within the rail industry.\nHow will you make a difference?\nAs a Systems Engineer, you will support the design, development, testing, and deployment of Wabtec's Train Handling portfolio. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will contribute to requirements development, system analysis, verification activities, and product enhancements while adhering to established engineering processes and standards.\nThe successful candidate will demonstrate an AI-enabled mindset, leveraging AI tools to improve research, problem-solving, productivity, and technical decision-making. You will continuously learn emerging technologies and apply data-driven insights to help deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer and business needs.\nWhat do we want to know about you?\nBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.\nHands-on design experience, requirements development and implementation experience involving; Engineering Systems, Hardware / Software Engineering, and/or Data Information Systems.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nStrong oral and written communication skills.\nAbility to work in a cross-functional, global environment.\nWillingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.\nWhat will your typical day look like?\n Support the design, development, testing, and enhancement of Train Handling solutions while applying sound engineering principles and established development processes.\nAssist in gathering, documenting, and analyzing customer and system requirements to support product development and continuous improvement activities.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Software Engineering, Train Control, Office Systems, Safety, Validation, and Applications Engineering, to support project execution and successful product delivery.\nParticipate in requirements reviews, design reviews, verification activities, and technical discussions throughout the product development lifecycle.\nAssist in troubleshooting technical issues, analyzing system behavior, and supporting resolution efforts under the guidance of senior engineers.\nContribute to field testing, validation, and evaluation activities for train automation and optimization solutions.\nSupport the preparation of technical documentation, reports, project updates, and engineering deliverables.\nWork with railroad subject matter experts and engineering teams to learn operational concepts and apply them to product development efforts.\nDevelop knowledge of industry standards, engineering best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to train automation, optimization, and distributed control systems.\nUtilize AI-enabled tools and technologies to improve productivity, accelerate learning, support analysis activities, and enhance engineering outcomes.\nPreferred Qualifications\nFoundational understanding of systems engineering principles and product development processes.\nExposure to software, controls, automation, transportation, or embedded systems through coursework, internships, or project experience.\nFamiliarity with systems architecture concepts and distributed systems is a plus.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\nInterest in applying AI-enabled tools and data-driven approaches to engineering challenges.\nKnowledge of railroad operations, AAR standards, CENELEC standards, or safety-critical systems is preferred but not required.\nBenefícios:\nNa Wabtec, pessoas estão em primeiro lugar.
