Read more.\nThis position is based onsite in Waltham, MA.\n Software Architecture & System Design\nOwn end-to-end software architecture for embedded Qt-based applications.\nDevelop and maintain system designs, APIs, interface specifications, and design documentation.\nEstablish scalable, modular frameworks for complex embedded systems.\nDrive adoption of modern design patterns, testability, maintainability, and performance optimization.\nTechnical Leadership & Team Direction\nManage a cross-functional team of software engineers, providing leadership, technical guidance, code reviews, and architectural oversight.\nDefine technical strategy, evaluate design trade-offs, and ensure alignment with long-term product goals.\nPromote high-quality standards, systematic problem solving, and continuous improvement.\nSystem Integration & Embedded Linux Architecture\nLead integration of software and hardware components into embedded Linux (Yocto, Buildroot, or custom Linux).\nArchitect and Integrate with hardware abstraction layers, backend engines, and system services.\nEnsure system robustness, resource efficiency, and smooth inter-component communication.\nEstablish and enforce testing strategies (unit, integration, UI, and automated validation).\nSupport CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and OTA update systems.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.\n 10+ years of professional experience with at least 5+ years of experience managing a team of software engineers including hiring, performance management and resource allocation\nExtensive experience (7+ years) in C++, Qt/QML, and full-stack embedded application development.\nStrong background in embedded Linux development.\nProven experience (3+ yrs) with technical management of software projects from initial design to final deployment\nStrong experience prioritizing tasks and directing a team of software engineers working in an agile environment\nDemonstrated ability to conceptualize, design and develop system architecture and produce maintainable designs.\nSoft Skills\nStrong leadership and communication skills.\nAbility to manage, influence, and elevate team performance.\nExcellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.\nComfortable leading initiatives in fast-paced, agile environments.\nDemonstrated ability to coach, develop, and inspire high-performing engineering teams.\nAbility to build collaborative relationships across technical and non-technical functions.\nStrong business acumen with the ability to align engineering efforts to organizational objectives.\nCoach, mentor, and develop engineers at various career stages.\nProvide constructive feedback and support career growth.\nPay range: $170,000 - $200,000 annually, depending on experience plus 12.5% annual bonus target.\n**Many Evident positions are located at export-control-restricted work locations or require access to export-controlled information.
