Here, working in coordination with our on-site Engineering and Materials teans, you will lead our Assembly team that is committed to producing our industry leading Maintenance of Way equipment.\nHow will you make a difference?\nAs a member of the Operations team, you will be responsible for the supervision of the work activities of employees in assembly and related areas, including work assignments and schedule of work hours to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the effective use of labor hours, safety and quality.\nWhat do we want to know about you?\nBachelor’s Degree in a related field or five (5) years of manufacturing experience\nOne (1) to Three (3) years related supervisory and project-management experience, preferably in a team-based continuous improvement manufacturing environment.\nManufacturing experience including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic background.\nProject Management Experience\nDemonstrated knowledge of tool functions\nMicrosoft Office Products\nERP System (Syspro)\nThe ability to develop and maintain relations.\nThe ability to maintain confidentiality.\nExceptional oral and written communication skills.\nThe ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of different situations.\nA high degree of adaptability and flexibility to operate in a fast paced work environment.\nThe ability to have an impact and influence on people and outcomes.\nWhat will your typical day look like?\nEnsure each employee performs their job following manufacturing, equipment and safety procedures and requirements to consistently produce good results.\nDirect production personnel and material flow to meet the company’s objectives for Delivery, Quality, Cost and Safety.\nLead and manage the quality processes in support of the company’s objectives for delivering quality products consistent with Nordco’s high quality image in the industry.\nWork with Leads on assembly issues and escalation plans\nSchedule work assignments and work hours to maximize productivity and efficiency, and the effective use of labor hours while minimizing downtime. Ensure jobs meet or beat planned hours.\nUse company’s MRP system to track and locate missing parts. \nCollaborate with other departments to identify needs and to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources for building machines\nConduct meetings with other Production Supervisors and Leads to ensure operation continuity.\nComplete reports and all records in a timely and accurate manner to ensure that all transactions and labor hours are reported accurately. Maintain records and verify accuracy of paperwork. \nParticipate in the selection of new team members. Mentor and counsel employees including disciplinary actions. Enforce all company policies including work rules.\nManage all special projects such as NIT builds, Complex REMAN and REPAIR projects within schedule and cost requirements. Direct Manufacturing and Design Engineering and Procurement resources as required.\nAssist Design Engineers in recommending design related solutions.\nFacilitate daily GEMBA walks. Drive Counter Measures through Operations and Supporting Teams. Reports on Operational Excellence metrics. \nDrive LEAN Enterprise practices on the shop floor including 5S, Single-Piece Flow, Kaizen and Standard Work. \nLead and support initiatives that improve safety awareness and injury avoidance.\nFoster a continuous improvement performance culture. Mentor, motivate and counsel employees to optimize performance and personal growth, and build leadership capability.\nPromote safety and conduct operations in accordance with customer requirements.\nWhat about the physical demands of the job?\nWork is primarily light duty and requires the ability to regularly lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. This position requires the ability to sit, stand and walk unassisted. Requires the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to talk and hear. The salary rate for this role is currently $68900-98200 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
