This is a result of our cutting-edge AI and machine vision technologies.\n Role Summary/Purpose\nThe Systems Test Engineer plays a pivotal role in communicating business goals, programs, and processes within a specific area or business segment. In this role, you will leverage your testing experience and development expertise to solve complex problems and develop and execute system-level test objectives for your team. This position has a strong emphasis on systems integration testing and test automation, requiring hands-on experience building and maintaining automation frameworks.\nYou will be responsible for testing systems that integrate cloud, firmware, hardware, and software components, while also contributing to the development of scalable and maintainable automation solutions.\nIn this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of complex systems.\nWhat will your typical day look like?\nWork collaboratively within the Agile Scrum team.\nBring best practice test engineering and automation-first thinking to the team’s work.\nAnalyse system testing needs, and plan, design, create, execute and maintain system-level and automated test solutions.\nDevelop, extend, and maintain automation frameworks and supporting libraries.\nContribute strong software development capability (Python preferred) to test systems and tooling.\nHelp the team identify priority issues, assist in root cause analysis, and drive delivery of solutions.\nDevelop and maintain automated tests in our automation testing framework.\nContribute towards continuous improvement of testing practices and automation maturity.\nLiaise with other engineering team members including digital design, RF engineering, software and network management products.\nPerform other system testing and integration activities as required.\nWhat do we want to know about you?\nEssential:\nBachelor's degree in information systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Computer/ Electronic Engineering. Non-graduates will be considered where a proven track record as an effective test engineer can be provided.\nProven experience with system testing and automation development, including hands-on coding.\nxperience with software development and hands on coding in a variety of high-level programming languages and embedded platform and processors.\nStrong experience as a systems or integration tester.\nExperience developing automation usingPython.\nHands-on experience with test automation tools such as Squish or similar.\nExperience building or contributing to automation frameworks and reusable test libraries.\nAn understanding of RF, digital electronics and electronics engineering.\nKnowledge of networking protocols and experience with the associated test equipment.\nKnowledge of good software development and testing practices.\nStrong skills in diagnosing problems, troubleshooting and reporting relevant data.\nExcellent written and oral communication skills.\nMust demonstrate an understanding of IP networking, including HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, firewalls and routers.\nExperience in Agile Scrum with proven ability to contribute to teamwork.Linux and Android experience.\n\nDesirable:\nAt least 5+ years’ experience with software development, test and validation.\nSource control and issue tracking tools such as Git and Jira.\nUnderstanding of digital electronics and wireless technologies.\nISTQB and/or Agile Testing (ICP-TST) certification.\nExperience with communication protocols such as RS232/485, CAN Bus and TCP/IP, and wireless technologies including Bluetooth and WiFi.\nExperience with GPS and GPS tracking in surveying or telematic applications, including telemetry.\nKnowledge of mining methods and/or vehicle types.\nExperience in using protocol analysers, Ethernet analysers, Bit Error Rate testers and other telecommunications and networking test equipment.\nEssential Personal Attributes\nAttention to detail in all areas of this role.\nMotivated, can work unsupervised, demonstrates a positive attitude.\nAbility to establish strong working relationships.\nCommitment to continued personal development in software testing.\nResilient in responding to change.\nWORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT\nSome travel may be required from time to time (5% or less).\n Successful candidates will be employed under local employment conditions and must already satisfy local employment/work permit and residency regulations.\n*Please note that we do not accept agency candidate submissions without a formalized agreement with Wabtec Talent Acquisition.
