This position will be based out of our Bay City, Flint, or Taylor offices and may require travel to other offices and project locations as needed. The candidate must have a high school diploma and one to five years of experience in asset management, fleet operations, or business support leadership roles. Automotive, fleet management, or related technical training is a plus. The Fleet Technician assists with vehicle and equipment inspections, maintenance coordination, asset tracking, fleet reporting, and vendor communication to help ensure vehicles and equipment remain safe, compliant, and operationally ready. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, technically inclined, and able to communicate effectively while managing multiple priorities and supporting continuous improvement efforts.\nTypical responsibilities include:\nSupport functions across Asset Management and Fleet Management programs.\nMonitor fleet age, utilization, condition, maintenance history, and replacement schedules.\nMaintain accurate asset records throughout the lifecycle of vehicles and equipment.\nAssist with vehicle specifications, ordering, and coordination with vendors and manufacturers.\nTrack order status, delivery schedules, upfitting requirements, and deployment readiness.\nEnsure newly acquired vehicles and equipment are properly commissioned and entered into asset management systems.\nConduct in-field inspections of fleet vehicles and equipment to assess condition, operational readiness, safety compliance, and maintenance needs.\nPerform entry-level hands-on diagnostics and troubleshooting for vehicles and equipment.\nCoordinate vehicle assignments, rental vehicle requests, transfers, and fleet availability.\nEnsure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.\nTravel to other office locations as needed to support operations.\nMaintain a safe working environment.\nEducation:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\nCompletion of Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Transportation, or similar Career and Technical Education (CTE) program preferred.\nAssociate’s degree in Automotive Technology, Fleet Management, Business, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.\nEquivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.\nSkills/Experience:\n1-5 years in asset management, fleet operations, or business support leadership roles.\nMicrosoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).\nExcellent communication and organizational skills.\nGeneral knowledge of vehicle maintenance and vehicle systems.\nAbility to collect, analyze, and interpret data and develop reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support operational decision-making.\nStrong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new technologies and systems.\nValid driver’s license required.\nExperience with vehicle tracking software preferred.\nAbility to use, or willingness to learn, fleet management, telematics, and asset management software platforms.\nFamiliarity with equipment management practices within construction, engineering, utility, or other field-service environments is
