Want to join the ride?\nField Service Superintendent - Energy Power Plant\nWe are now looking for a Field Service Superintendent - (Energy) to join our team working for a better future.\nThe position is permanent, and the preferred location is West Texas (Pecos, Midland, Odessa), but it's open to anywhere in Texas.\nWhat will you be doing?\nAs a Field Service Superintendent - Energy, you will lead and execute complex mechanical field service activities according to the agreed work plan. This includes major repairs, overhauls, and troubleshooting of reciprocating internal combustion engines (RICE) and their auxiliary systems at customer power plants.\nYou will act as the senior technical authority on-site, taking ownership of mechanical execution, technical decision-making, and customer-facing discussions. In addition, you will support New Build and Commissioning teams, contribute to technical reporting and analysis, and ensure that all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with Wärtsilä quality standards.\nResponsibilities:\nLead and execute major mechanical overhauls, including full engine disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of 4-stroke reciprocating engines and auxiliary equipment.\nPerform complex and advanced troubleshooting of mechanical and operational issues at customer power plants, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.\nAct as Superintendent for complex service projects, leading on-site execution and coordinating Service Engineers, Technicians, and other field resources.\nServe as the main technical point of contact for customers during service execution, leading technical discussions and managing expectations.\nPrepare detailed Service Work Reports, including findings, analysis, conclusions, and technical recommendations.\nProvide internal and external progress updates on assigned work and follow up on work order status.\nSupport New Build and Commissioning activities as required, ensuring smooth transition from installation to operation.\nEnsure all work is executed in compliance with Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) guidelines and customer site procedures.\nProactively identify improvement opportunities and apply best practices to enhance service execution.\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.\nTo be successful in this role, we expect you to have:\nA safety-first mindset and strong commitment to QHSE standards.\nBSc in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience.\nExtensive experience in power generation field service, particularly with reciprocating engines.\nProven hands-on experience with engine overhauls and major mechanical repairs.\nStrong troubleshooting and analytical skills in complex mechanical environments.\nA systematic way of working with good organizational and documentation skills.\nStrong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers.\nGood command of English, both oral and written.\nWillingness to work overtime and travel extensively as required.\nAs an ideal candidate, we expect you to have:\nHigh integrity and accountability.\nStrong customer focus and ownership mindset.\nProven leadership experience in the field (Superintendent, Senior Service Engineer, or similar).\nExperience working with Wärtsilä engines or similar large-bore engine platforms.\nAbility to lead and influence individuals from different cultural and professional backgrounds.\nStrong organizational and prioritization skills.\nA team-player mindset with the confidence to work independently in remote environments.\nPhysical & Mental / Reasoning Demands:\nThese are the physical and mental requirements of the position as it is typically performed:\nVision: Close; Distance; Depth.\nColor perception (Red, Green, Amber).\nHearing / Listening.\nClear speech.\nManual dexterity (hand and finger).\nAbility to mount and dismount equipment or vehicles.\nPushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.\nLifting up to 45 pounds, multiple times per shift.\nCarrying up to 25 pounds, multiple times per shift.\nDriving (local and long-distance).\nAbility to stand, bend, squat, and sit for prolonged periods.\nClimbing and maintaining balance.\nWork Environment:\nThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:\nWorks alone and with others.\nFace-to-face and verbal contact with others.\nIndoor and outdoor environments.\nExposure to extreme heat and cold.\nNoise and vibration.\nMechanical equipment and moving objects.\nPressurized systems.\nHigh places.\nFumes, odors, dust, and hazardous materials.\nTravel Requirements:\nThis position requires approximately 85% travel, including domestic and occasional international assignments to customer power plants.
