We are always on the lookout for future-oriented talent - want to join the ride?\nLocation: Lihir Site, Papua New Guinea (PNG)\n\nMain Responsibilities:\nCoordinate daily mechanical maintenance activities at the plant and/or within the assigned team.\nEnsure plant performance targets within the assigned area of responsibility are achieved in accordance with contractual requirements.\nTrain and guide new employees on maintenance procedures, standards, and safe working practices.\nMonitor the condition and availability of maintenance equipment, materials, spare parts, and tools, ensuring they are maintained in accordance with applicable guidelines and policies. Take corrective action when required.\nEnsure all work at the plant is carried out in accordance with Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) guidelines, customer site procedures, and the assigned maintenance plan.\nInspect completed maintenance and repair work to ensure it has been performed correctly and that machinery and equipment comply with required specifications and safety standards.\nCoach and mentor maintenance personnel and support them in diagnosing and resolving more complex machinery and equipment issues.\nDevelop and continuously improve maintenance working routines and practices at the plant.\nPrioritize and assign tasks effectively to ensure team resources are utilized efficiently and that work schedules and performance targets are achieved.\nDesired Behaviours :\nAchieving results\nMaking change happen\nDecisiveness and action orientation\nPlanning and target setting\nDeveloping self and others\nEffective communication\nSituational and cultural sensitivity\nBusiness and customer focus\nJob Specifications:\nWilling and able to work at Lihir Site, Papua New Guinea (PNG) in accordance with the applicable site and roster arrangements.\nDiploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or a related field.\nRelevant experience in a power plant, mining, heavy industry, or similar operational environment.\nStrong hands-on experience and deep understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, mechanical equipment, and practical technical guidance.\nGood understanding of QHSE requirements and safe working practices.\nStrong track record in team leadership, including planning, coordinating, guiding, and developing maintenance teams.\nAbility to coach and develop maintenance personnel.\nGood communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.\nGood command of written and spoken English.\nWhy Wärtsilä?\nAt Wärtsilä, you will have the opportunity to grow your expertise while contributing to meaningful work in the energy and marine industries.
