Safety, environment, and wellbeing are our foundation, and we never compromise them.\nWe are looking for a Service Engineer Propulsion to join our Field Service team and perform advanced service activities on Wärtsilä propulsion systems worldwide.\nIn this role, you will combine hands-on mechanical expertise with control system diagnostics and troubleshooting to support commissioning, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of propulsion equipment both on board vessels and in shipyards.\nThe preferred location for this position is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.\nYour role and responsibilities\nAs a Service Engineer Propulsion, your tasks will include:\nPerforming troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on propulsion equipment and associated control systems.\n\nExecuting commissioning activities, sea trials, and system performance verification.\n\nDiagnosing and resolving complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and automation-related issues.\n\nSupporting propulsion control system upgrades, parameter adjustments, and operational testing.\n\nConducting inspections and condition assessments of propulsion equipment.\n\nPreparing detailed technical, service, and travel reports after each assignment.\n\nProviding technical support and guidance to customers both on-site and remotely.\n\nCollaborating closely with a global network of engineers, technical experts, and project teams.\n\nEnsuring all work is performed according to Wärtsilä quality, safety, and environmental standards.\n\nRequirements for the position\nTechnical diploma or Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.\n\nExperience in service, maintenance, or operation of propulsion equipment and systems, ideally within marine environments.\n\nUnderstanding of control and automation systems, PLCs, and electrical systems used in marine propulsion applications.\n\nAbility to troubleshoot technical issues and identify root causes.\n\nWillingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide (around 70-80% of the time) and work on board vessels and at shipyard locations.\n\nGood computer skills, including MS Office applications.\n\nStrong command of English, both written and spoken.\n\nGood communication and customer-facing skills.\n\nSelf-motivated and proactive mindset.\n\nCuriosity and willingness to continuously learn and develop new technical skills.\n\nAs an ideal candidate you might also have...\nBackground as a Marine Engineer, Field Service Engineer, or equivalent experience in marine environments.\n\nExperience with Wärtsilä propulsion products, including CPP, FPP, Tunnel Thrusters, Steerable Thrusters, Waterjets, or Gearboxes.\n\nExperience reading electrical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and control logic diagrams.\n\nWhy you and us?\nYou are valuated - as your true self.
