The preferred location for this permanent position is Vaasa, Finland. We offer possibility for hybrid work.\nYour role and responsibilities\nAs a Vibration Engineer, you will work in a global, innovative and customer-driven organisation. This delivery-oriented role focuses on providing high-quality engineering analysis and solutions that meet project needs and customer expectations. Your work may include performing noise and vibration measurements during factory acceptance testing of generating sets for advanced passenger and research vessels, as well as presenting vibration analysis results and selected power transmission solutions for cutting-edge hybrid ferry projects. You will be working as part of our skilled Noise & Vibration Engineering team within Customer Solution Engineering in Power Supply, providing specialist expertise across all marine projects.\nYour work will focus on these responsibilities:\nPerform noise and vibration measurements during engine factory acceptance tests \nParticipate in delivery projects as the Noise & Vibration Engineer in the project team \nPerform torsional vibration calculations in both frequency and time domains \nPerform resilient mounting calculations \nCreate technical specifications in accordance with internal standards \nPrepare and deliver detailed measurement and calculation reports to customers and classification societies \nProvide technical expertise and support to internal and external stakeholders on noise and vibration topics \nDevelop measurement and analysis methodologies and technical solutions together with internal stakeholders and suppliers \nTo be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:\nM.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering field \nStrong background in mathematics and physics \nFundamental knowledge of structural dynamics, vibration and modal analysis \nInterest in internal combustion engines \nFluent written and spoken English and solid MS Office skills. Finnish or Swedish language skill is considered as an advantage \nAnalytical mindset and a systematic, proactive and organised way of working \nPractical problem-solving approach and strong technical reporting skills \nAbility to work independently and collaboratively in an international environment, with willingness to learn and adopt new technologies \nThe following are considered an advantage:\nPractical experience in linear vibration, airborne noise, torsional vibration or modal measurements \nKnowledge of signal processing \nExperience of or interest in engine dynamics \nExperience with data acquisition system hardware and transducers \nKnowledge of relevant ISO standards related to noise and vibration \nExperience with torsional vibration analysis or marine power systems \nWhy you and us?\nWe at Wärtsilä believe in empowerment, ownership and taking responsibility of our work.
