You'll balance hands-on design execution with cross-functional leadership, turning complex user needs into simple, accessible experiences that shape how small businesses experience payroll. You will report directly to our UX Design Manager.\nWhat you'll be expected to own:\nSet the bar for design craft, delivering prototypes and high-quality designs that other designers look to as the standard.\n\nManage delivery across multiple projects, turning ambiguous, large-scale problems into clear plans and well-documented solutions.\n\nApply broad systems thinking to your work, through information architecture, user flows, and other system maps that hold up across multiple products.\n\nBuild strong, ongoing relationships with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional partners, and represent UX in conversations with senior leaders.\n\nDrive standards and best practices in AI-assisted discovery and exploration\n\nChampion the Wagepoint design system, contributing components and helping guide governance and adoption across the company.\n\nPlay a key role in product strategy and vision, spotting new opportunities and challenging assumptions in discovery and planning sessions.\n\nHelp define and evolve the UX team's standards, patterns, workflows, and tools.\n\nOwn key team maturity programs and help in managing DesignOps initiatives alongside UX peers.\n\nAdvocate for UX across the company, including accessibility, data-led decisions, and the processes that let UX do its best work.\n\nMentor other designers, sharing constructive feedback in design reviews and helping others grow and develop.\n\nWhat you bring to the table:\n8+ years of experience in UX or product design, ideally in a SaaS or product-led environment.\n\nA strong portfolio of work showcasing design for complex data, multi-step forms, and UX in high trust scenarios.\n\nA track record of driving impact on high-priority, large-scale, and cross-team initiatives.\n\nStrong communication, story-telling, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.\n\nExperience navigating ambiguity, taking initiative, and proactively solving problems.\n\nExperience facilitating workshops, planning projects, and estimating UX work.\n\nExperience contributing to or managing a corporate design system.\n\nA collaborative mindset and a genuine passion for mentorship and cross-functional partnership.\n\nMastery of Figma, using variables, components, and libraries.\n\nStrong experience using Claude, Cursor, V0, Figma Make and similar AI tools.\n\nBonus points if:\nYou've used AI to combine design and code in your work.\n\nYou’ve designed for complex regulated environments, including payroll and fintech.\n\nYou can demonstrate strong motion, illustration, and visual design skills.\n\nWhat we bring to the table:\nImpact: Dig in and directly contribute to Wagepoint’s growth and success.\n\nCulture: Work alongside a team that genuinely enjoys solving problems together, celebrates wins, supports one another through challenges, and still finds time for the occasional terrible joke.\n\nGrowth: We believe learning is part of the job.
