Shifts are determined by the supervisor. Work assignments may occur during school closure periods, including breaks and summer months. The position also participates in a rotating on-call schedule to support emergency or time-sensitive operational needs.\nPOSITION PURPOSE:\nDelivers food, supplies, and equipment to schools for child nutrition operations. Performs work related to warehouse receiving and order pick-up. Responsible for transporting food, supplies, and equipment between the central office, vendors, and school sites. Supports daily meal service operations by ensuring timely, accurate, and sanitary delivery of all items needed for school nutrition programs.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)\nKnowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point; Google Apps;\n\nEffective time management skills;\n\nAbility to perform basic math calculations;\n\nAbility to follow multi-step written and oral instructions;\n\nAbility to work independently and with limited supervision;\n\nAbility to meet deadlines and work as part of a team;\n\nAbility to drive a large delivery truck;\n\nAbility to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form in English using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;\n\nAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, external agencies, attorneys, parents, and the public.\n\nEDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE\nHigh school diploma or equivalent;\n\nTwo years of experience in driving a large delivery truck;\n\nCERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS\nMust hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina requirements;\n\nWithin 90 days of employment complete training and certification requirements as a forklift operator;\n\nWithin 60 days of employment, successfully complete Child Nutrition Services Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) training.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nCurrent Commercial Driver’s License (CDL);\n\nExperience in food service, warehouse operations, or delivery;\n\nFour years of experience in driving a large delivery truck;\n\nServSafe Certification.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nOperates a large delivery truck for drop off and pick up of foods, supplies, materials, and food service equipment.\n\nLoads delivery trucks to most efficiently meet daily routes.\n\nPerforms work to unload and properly shelve products at delivery locations.\n\nMaintains a high degree of safety during loading and unloading operations and while driving route.\n\nCompletes required paperwork and collects signatures of deliveries for audit control.\n\nReceives, stores, palletizes, stages, and rotates goods in central warehouse in accordance with HACCP and uses best practices for handling potentially hazardous chemicals. To include counting inventory.\n\nAttends annual training in accordance with the National School Lunch Program federal regulations for professional standards and maintains documentation of attendance for auditing purposes.\n\nPerforms daily pre-safety and operational checks of vehicles, refrigeration apparatus, and equipment; reports concerns appropriately to maintain safety and operational standards.\n\nCleans vehicle/truck to maintain appearance and sanitary standards.\n\nEnsures all vehicles are fueled with the appropriate fuel type in accordance with manufacturer and district requirements.\n\nPalletizes and stages orders along with receives, stores, and rotates goods.\n\nPerforms other related duties, as assigned.\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nThis job operates in a professional office, warehouse, and cafeteria environment. Work requires exposure to variable weather elements when making deliveries. It is also performed in variable environments with exposure to hot, cold, and freezing temperatures and moderate noise levels. The work frequently requires driving automotive equipment and operating warehouse forklifts and pallet jacks. Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally or 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
