Performs craftsman level work associated with refrigeration equipment including coolers, freezers, and related systems.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)\nWorking knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment and fixtures;\n\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel; Google Apps;\n\nWorking knowledge of OSHA standards;\n\nCritical thinking and problem solving skills;\n\nAbility to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;\n\nAbility to work independently and as a team member and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction;\n\nAbility to perform arithmetic calculations;\n\nAbility to troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems;\n\nAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies.\n\nEDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE\nHigh school diploma or equivalent;\n\nExperience in HVAC or related field.\n\nCERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS\nMust hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements;\n\nWithin twelve months of employment complete safety training according to OSHA standards.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nAssociates degree or technical school training in HVAC systems;\n\nType I, II, and III chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nPerforms entry-level or craftsman-level work associated with heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, materials, equipment, and fixtures.\n\nResponds to assigned work orders relating to HVAC; troubleshoots appropriate corrective measures and performs work to provide a solution.\n\nAssists in replacing faulty or defective HVAC equipment and systems.\n\nPrepares and maintains records, work logs, and reports, as needed.\n\nAdheres to WCPSS policies including laws, regulations, and requirements relating to workplace safety.\n\nMaintains compliance and adherence to all safety procedures, occupational health practices, and maintaining a safe work environment.\n\nPerforms other related duties, as assigned.\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nThis position operates in an indoor and outdoor environment. This role routinely uses a variety of equipment such as computers, hand/power tools, etc. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies. Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of up to 75 pounds of force.
