Whether building roadways and bridges, stabilizing shorelines, rehabilitating structures, supplying essential construction materials, or providing site engineering and construction solutions for solar projects, Walbec is your bridge to expertise in construction and engineering.\nWith safety and ethics at the core of everything we do, our experienced professionals are hard at work on commercial and industrial sites throughout the Midwest.\nThe Position:\nAssist with daily heavy civil construction operations, including earthwork, utilities, grading, and site development.\nLearn and promote proper safety procedures, and help monitor compliance with OSHA and company standards.\nShadow the Superintendent in working with the Operations Manager and HR on employee relations matters.\nSupport equipment coordination and pre-job planning to help ensure appropriate resources are allocated to the job site.\nHelp verify foreman-reported installed quantities against hours from timecards.\nObserve and assist in troubleshooting field construction issues in collaboration with Project Management to keep projects on schedule and within budget.\nDevelop a working understanding of plans, specifications, and standard practices for heavy civil work.\nBuild professional relationships with Owners, General Contractors, and Subcontractors.\nAssist with the training and onboarding of field crew personnel under supervision.\nSupport Project Managers with scheduling, cost control, and change order documentation.\nRequirements:\nCurrently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.\nBasic knowledge of, or coursework related to, earthwork, underground utilities, grading, and site construction operations.\nSelf-starter and ability to work independently.\nStrong communication skills both written and verbal.\nWe are an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action employer, and it is our practice to provide equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants.
