The ideal candidate is hands-on, proactive, and comfortable operating under pressure, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues quickly and effectively.\nThis position requires participation in an on-call rotation to support business-critical systems and respond to incidents as needed.\nLocation\nYou will work from the Walbridge Headquarters in Detroit, Michigan.\nPreference will be given to candidates currently located in the Detroit Metropolitan area. Candidates residing elsewhere in the contiguous United States must be willing to relocate at their own expense.\nResponsibilities\nYour key responsibilities\nAzure & Hybrid Networking\nDesign, implement, and support Azure networking solutions, including:\nVNets, subnets, NSGs, UDRs\nVPN gateways (site-to-site and point-to-site)\nAzure Firewall, load balancers, public/private endpoints\nMaintain and optimize hybrid connectivity between on-premises data centers and Azure.\nTroubleshoot connectivity issues between cloud workloads, on-prem systems, and external services.\nSupport cloud migration efforts and ensure network readiness for new workloads.\nIncident Response & On-Call Support\nRespond to and resolve production-impacting incidents outside standard business hours.\nAct decisively during outages, balancing speed and risk to restore service.\nLead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions.\nWork effectively under pressure while balancing competing priorities and time-sensitive issues.\nSecurity & Operational Hardening\nImplement and maintain secure network architectures, including:\nFirewall rule management\nNetwork segmentation and VLAN strategy\nSecure remote access\nPartner with security teams on:\nThreat detection and response\nVulnerability remediation\nCompliance initiatives\nEnsure adherence to best practices in network security, Zero Trust principles, and least privilege access.\nSupport modern secure access approaches, including SASE/SSE concepts and related Zero Trust network access capabilities.\nInfrastructure & Core Services\nSupport and maintain core network services:\nDNS, DHCP, IP address management\nEnsure reliability of identity-driven connectivity (e.g., AD, Entra ID, authentication flows).\nMaintain and improve monitoring, alerting, and visibility across network environments.\nLeverage automation, scripting, monitoring platforms, and AI-assisted troubleshooting where appropriate to improve network operations, documentation, incident response, and service reliability.\nDevelop and maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation, and runbooks.\nProject Execution & Continuous Improvement\nLead or contribute to infrastructure projects such as:\nNetwork redesigns and optimization\nHardware lifecycle management\nSite deployments and expansions\nCloud adoption initiatives\nContinuously identify opportunities to improve resiliency, scalability, and operational efficiency.\nEvaluate and recommend new technologies and approaches to modernize the network environment.\nManage and coordinate with key vendors and service providers, including ISPs, MSPs, firewall vendors, Microsoft, and other network technology partners.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\n5 years of hands-on experience in network administration in enterprise environments.\nStrong expertise in:\nRouting and switching\nVLANs and subnetting\nDNS, DHCP, TCP/IP\nFirewall and VPN technologies\nProven experience with Microsoft Azure networking and hybrid connectivity.\nDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-layered network issues under pressure.\nExperience supporting mission-critical systems with high availability requirements.\nWorking knowledge of automation and scripting tools such as PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Bicep, or other infrastructure-as-code approaches.\nFamiliarity with SASE/SSE technologies or concepts, such as Zscaler, cloud proxy, secure web gateway, private access, or comparable secure access platforms.\nAbility to work independently and take full ownership of issues from identification through resolution.\nApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship.\nEEO/AA Employer M/F/D/V\nWalbridge is an equal opportunity employer with a culture that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workforce.
