You will own the design from foundational research to prototyping to validation. We're looking for a builder at heart: someone who is happiest making things, sweats the details, and who holds a high bar for quality.\nCore Responsibilities:\nDesign the immersive VR-based interface used to understand what a robot is doing and direct it with confidence and comfort.\nOwn end-to-end service design: map how work flows across people, robots, and tools, and design the connective tissue needed for a seamless experience.\nCollaborate with our engineering and ops teams to bring interfaces to life and deploy them with quality.\nRun discovery and usability testing with our operations team, and iterate quickly on what you learn.\nHelp lay the foundations of our design practice-craft, design system, standards, and culture-as one of the earliest members of a growing team. \nRequired Qualifications:\nDeep interaction and visual craft, with a portfolio showing clarity and usability in complex, data-rich, or real-time experiences.\nStrong systems and service thinking, with an ability to design a coherent journey across multiple touchpoints and handoffs.\nComfort running your own discovery and usability testing, and turning findings into design decisions.\nA track record of thriving in ambiguity, wearing multiple hats, and moving from vague problem to shipped solution with a high level of autonomy.\nA bias toward prototyping (in Figma, low-fi mockups, code, etc.) to learn and iterate quickly.\nExpertise or interest in human factors and human-robot interaction (HRI): latency, presence, situational awareness, and operator trust and fatigue.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nHands-on experience designing for VR, AR, or other spatial/3D interfaces, with an understanding of the interaction, comfort, and ergonomic realities of head-mounted displays.\nExperience designing for robotics or gaming.\nFamiliarity with Unity, Unreal, or other 3D/XR design tooling.\nExperience building and maintaining design systems. \nComfort using AI/agentic tools to accelerate and improve your work.\nWalden Robotics offers a competitive total compensation program, including salary, annual cash bonus, company equity, company-subsidized insurance programs, 401(k) with company match, flexible PTO, daily lunch, and other benefits.
