This role is responsible for developing, administering, and supporting mission-critical PostgreSQL databases running in high-availability clustered production environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database development, performance tuning, replication, backup & recovery, production support, and reporting solutions to ensure the reliability, scalability, and availability of our Perfect Pay platform.\nResponsibilities:\nDevelop and maintain SQL and PL/pgSQL procedures, functions, triggers, views, and optimise complex database queries.\nAdminister and support high-availability PostgreSQL production environments, ensuring performance, reliability, and uptime.\nManage PostgreSQL replication, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and database health monitoring.\nDesign, develop, and maintain JasperReports for operational, business, and regulatory reporting.\nSupport both transactional (OLTP) and reporting database workloads while ensuring optimal performance and workload isolation.\nDevelop Shell and Python scripts to automate database administration, monitoring, report scheduling, backup validation, and operational tasks.\nTroubleshoot database performance issues, production incidents, and reporting problems, ensuring timely resolution.\nCollaborate with Development, DevOps, and Platform Engineering teams to support database deployments and operational excellence.\nMaintain database documentation, operational procedures, and support continuous improvement through automation and best practices.\nRequirements:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.\n6-7 years of experience in PostgreSQL database administration and development.\nStrong experience managing high-availability PostgreSQL clustered production environments.\nExpertise in SQL, PL/pgSQL, query optimisation, replication, pgBackRest, and Pgpool-II/PgBouncer.\nExperience with JasperReports, Shell/Python scripting, and Linux (RHEL/Rocky).\nSolid understanding of OLTP systems, reporting databases, backup and recovery, and production support.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.\nPreferred Skills:\nExperience with GitHub, Jenkins, and CI/CD-based database deployment processes.\nKnowledge of Liquibase or Flyway for database version control.\nExposure to Kafka, HashiCorp Vault, and cloud-based PostgreSQL platforms.\nExperience implementing database automation, monitoring, and operational best practices.\nTechnical Stack:\nDatabase: PostgreSQL.\nLanguages: SQL, PL/pgSQL, Shell, Python.\nReporting: JasperReports.\nHA and Performance: Replication, Pgpool-II, PgBouncer, pgBackRest.\nOperating
